World Turtle Day 2026

On May 23rd, Every year world observes the World Turtle Day and it brings the global attention planet’s one of the oldest and most threatened creatures turtles and tortoises. These ancient reptiles have survived for more than the 200 million years, and even outlined the dinosaurs. In current time, these species face serious threats due to habitat destruction, pollution, climate change, and illegal wildlife trade. This day serves as an important reminder that to protect the turtles and protecting the biodiversity and fragile ecosystems.

Agni-1 Missile Successfully Tested by India from Odisha Under Strategic Forces Command

On 21st May, 2026 India has conducted the important defense test with the launch of the Agni-1 ballistic missile from Odisha. The successful firing was carried out from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur ad it reinforces the India’s missile readiness and defense preparedness. This test was conducted under the supervision of the Strategic Forces Command.

Chandrayaan-3 Wins Prestigious 2026 AIAA Goddard Award for Historic Lunar Mission

India’s historic Chandrayaan-3 mission has earned the major international honor after receiving the 2026 AIAA Goddard Astronautics Award in Washington DC. It celebrates the one of the most defining achievements in the space exploration and India becoming the first country to successfully soft-land a spacecraft near the Moon’s south pole.

Rajasthan Receives World No Tobacco Day Award 2026 for Outstanding Tobacco Control Efforts

Rajasthan received the prestigious World No Tobacco Day Award 2026 from the World Health Organisation for its outstanding tobacco control initiatives during 2025-26 in the South-East Asia region. The honour reflects the state government’s strong commitment towards public health and its vision of creating a “Tobacco-Free Rajasthan”.

UN honours Major Abhilasha Barak with Gender Advocate Award

Indian Army officer Major Abhilasha Barak received the United Nations Military Gender Advocate of the Year Award for 2025 on 22-23 May 2026. She serves with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon as Commander of the Female Engagement Team in the Indian Battalion. The United Nations Military Gender Advocate of the Year Award was instituted in 2016 by the Office of Military Affairs under the United Nations Department of Peace Operations. The award is presented annually to a military peacekeeper for work related to gender equality and Women, Peace and Security.

Kevin Warsh Sworn In as Federal Reserve Chair, Replacing Jerome Powell

Kevin Warsh has officially sworn in as the Chair of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors with this he replaced the Jerome Powell who led the central bank role since 2018. He will take the charge at the very high sensitive moment for  the US economy which is marked by inflation, poltical pressure over the intereet rates and growing debate around the Fed’s independence.
