The International Week of Solidarity with the Peoples of Non-Self-Governing Territories (25–31 May) is observed annually by the UN General Assembly to support the rights of people living in remaining colonial territories. It focuses on 17 Non-Self-Governing Territories, promoting their right to self-determination and encouraging their political, economic, and social development.

India’s Esha Singh Wins Gold with World Record Score at ISSF World Cup Munich

Esha Singh delivered the excellent performance of her career at the SSF World Cup in Munich and created the history by world record breaking gold medal in the women’s 25m pistol event. She did just this at the age of 21 and outperformed the biggest names in the international shooting which includes Paris Olympic champion Yang Jinn and former world champion Doreen Vennekamp. She displayed the exceptional consistency and composure and she led throughout the competition and finished with the remarkable score of 43 points.

Two Indian Peacekeepers To Receive UN Honours

Two Indian peacekeepers, Lance Havildar Harbhajan Singh and Naib Subedar Sujit Kumar Pradhan, will receive the Dag Hammarskjöld Medal posthumously from the United Nations. The ceremony will be held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on 5 June 2026, and Major Abhilasha Barak will receive the 2025 Military Gender Advocate of the Year award on the same date.

Rajasthan Receives World No Tobacco Day Award 2026 for Outstanding Tobacco Control Efforts

Rajasthan received the prestigious World No Tobacco Day Award 2026 from the World Health Organisation for its outstanding tobacco control initiatives during 2025-26 in the South-East Asia region. The honour reflects the state government’s strong commitment towards public health and its vision of creating a “Tobacco-Free Rajasthan”.

PT Usha Releases “India’s First Olympic Gold” Book Celebrating Historic 1928 Hockey Triumph

The book India’s First Olympic Gold was released by PT Usha, President of the Indian Olympic Association, and it highlights India’s historic Olympic achievement in hockey. It commemorates India’s first-ever Olympic gold medal, won by the men’s field hockey team at the 1928 Amsterdam Summer Olympics. The 1928 team, then representing British India, defeated the host nation Netherlands to secure the historic gold medal.

Kolkata Selected as Host City for International Day of Yoga 2026 Celebrations

As India has started the preparations for the International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026, and the government announced the Kolkata as the main city to host for this year celebrations. The announcements was made during the grand Yoga Mahotsav 2026 event which held at the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh. Along with this Ministry of Ayush also unveiled the official theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing” and highlights the yoga’s growing importance to promote the physical fitness, mental wellness and preventive healthcare.
