World Youth Skills Day 2026

World Youth Skills Day 2026 will be celebrated worldwide on July 15, 2026, (Wednesday) with the title, “Skills for a Shared Future.” The United Nations (UN) is the organizer of the day, which promotes the significance of preparing the youth with the technological, digital, vocational, and life skills which are required in the world driven by modernisation. The theme of the year 2026 focuses on the importance of continued learning, inclusion in education, and cooperation between public administrations, industry, and education sectors in building a strong workforce.

Tamil Poet and Lyricist R. Vairamuthu Conferred with 60th Jnanpith Award

The renowned Tamil poet, lyricist, and writer R. Vairamuthu has been awarded with Jnanpith award in the year 2025, it is the prestigious award of Indian literature. This award was conferred at a function in New Delhi. Now, he is the third Tamil from Tamil Nadu to have received this prestigious award after a gap of 24 years.

Linda Noskova Wins Maiden Grand Slam Title at Wimbledon 2026

Linda Noskova (Czech Republic) won her maiden Grand Slam title by defeating fellow Czech Karolina Muchova 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 in the Wimbledon 2026 Women’s Singles Final at Centre Court, London. At 21 years of age, Noskova became the third Czech woman in four years to win the Wimbledon women’s singles title, following Marketa Vondrousova (2023) and Barbora Krejcikova (2024).

Gujarat’s Unjha Cumin and Fennel Receive GI Tag

For Gujarat agriculture sector, Geographical Indication (GI) tag awarded to Unjha cumin (Jeera) and Unjha fennel (Saunf) by the Geographical Indications Registry. This recognition confirms that these two premium spice crops are products of Unjha, which is one of the biggest spice trading centers of India located in northern Gujarat. This GI certification is set to enhance the global identity of Gujarat spices, boost the export potential of the spice, improve income opportunities for farmers, and also provide protection from misinterpretation of these products.
Jio Platforms Appoints Pankaj Pawar as CEO Ahead of Landmark IPO

Jio Platforms Ltd., which is a subsidiary of the Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) that deals in digital services, has announced the appointment of Pankaj Pawar as its newest Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Pawar succeeds the Kiran Thomas in the wake of Jio Platforms’ planned Initial Public Offering (IPO). The news of the leadership change was disclosed in the Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) filed by Reliance with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). The IPO expected to raise around USD 4 billion (approximately ₹37,700 crore) from the market. If this IPO gets successful, it will become the biggest IPO in Indian history.
Sweden Tops Global Passport Index 2026; India Slips to 125th Rank

Sweden topped the Global Passport Index 2026 with an overall score of 96.05, followed by Switzerland, Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Norway, and Singapore in the top 10. The Global Passport Index 2026, released by Global Citizen Solutions, ranked 197 countries using 14 indicators across three key pillars: Enhanced Mobility, Investment, and Quality of Living.
