Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Hits Record 65 Sixes in IPL 2026, Surpasses Chris Gayle
A fifteen year old teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, as he broke the iconic record of Chris Gayle for most sixes in single edition of IPL. He achieved this milestone against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Eliminator of IPL 2026 at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh. He also became the youngest player to score the 600 runs in an IPL season. The Rajasthan Royals opener has created history by smashing his 61st six of IPL 2026 and surpassed the Chris Gayle’s previous record of 59 sixes set during the 2012 season.
Shreyas Iyer Named Brand Ambassador of F1 Programme in India
The Mumbai Falcons Racing Limited (MFRL) have announced that the Shreyas Iyer will be the official brand ambassador for its F1 Programme in the India. This announcement comes alongside the launch of the F1 Sim Racing India Open 2026. It is the national-level competition which aimed at to discovering and nurturing the digital racing talent. This collaboration highlights the growing convergence of the traditional sports and esports and explore the new pathways for young, tech-savvy athletes across the country.

Sikkim Police Receives President’s Police Colour
The President’s Police Colour, also called Nishaan, is the highest ceremonial honour for a police force in India. On 28 May 2026, President Droupadi Murmu conferred the award on the Sikkim Police at Paljor Stadium in Gangtok. The President’s Police Colour is a ceremonial distinction given to police forces for exceptional service, bravery, professionalism, discipline, and dedication to the nation. Sikkim Police became the 15th state police force in India to receive this honour.

Sikkim Becomes India’s Fifth Fully Literate State
Sikkim was declared a fully literate state on 27 May 2026 under the ULLAS – Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram. The state recorded a literacy rate of 99.82 per cent, which is above the Ministry of Education benchmark of 95 per cent for full literacy. ULLAS stands for Understanding of Lifelong Learning for All in Society. The programme was launched in Sikkim on 14 November 2022 and was implemented across all six districts, 34 blocks, Gram Panchayat units, and wards.
Hazaribag Set to Become India’s First Pearl Farming Cluster
The Hazaribag district in the state of the Jharkhand is set to emerge as the India’s first and only pearl farming cluster. This initiative is driven by fisheries department with support from the government to promote the scientific aquaculture and create employment. With a focus on women participation this project aims to transform Hazaribag into the national model for sustainable and profitable pearl farming.
