East Bengal Win Indian Super League Title for First Time, Ending 22-Year Wait
The East Bengal have finally ended one of the Indian Football’s lonest title after they defeated the Inter Kashi in the Indian Super League 2026. East Bengal have lifted the first ever trophy of ISL and ended a 22 year title drought in the top tier domestic football. The historic moment came at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata, where East Bengal FC has completed a memorable comeback victory. Inter Kashi shocked the home crowd early when the Alfred scored in the 15th minute and put the East Bengal under pressure in the title decider.

Taiwan Travelogue wins the prize of the International Booker Prize 2026, put the Taiwan’s storytelling, history and literary culture firmly on the world map. It was written by the Yang Shuang-zi and translated by Lin King and this novel has made the first work translated from Mandarin Chinese to win the prestigious award.
Kantha Artist Tripti Mukherjee to Receive Padma Shri for Preserving Traditional Indian Embroidery
Kantha stitch artist Tripti Mukherjee set to receive the Padma Shri on May 25th, 2026. She is known for West Bengal’s iconic embroidery tradition and she spent nearly four decades promoting the Kantha craftsmanship while creating the livelihood opportunities for rural women. Renowned Kantha embroidery artist Tripti Mukherjee will be honored with the Padma Shri, which is one of the India’s highest civilian awards.

UK Announces Free Bus Travel Scheme for Children in England
The UK government announced a free bus travel scheme for children in England on 20 May 2026. The measure is part of the “Great British Summer Savings” package and applies to participating local bus services during August 2026. The scheme allows children aged five to 15 in England to travel free on participating local buses. No registration is required, and the offer covers unlimited journeys at no cost to families. The scheme applies during the school holiday period in August 2026.
