Kabir Das Jayanti 2025 celebrates the 648th birth anniversary of Sant Kabir Das, a 15th-century saint, poet and social reformer. It is observed on the full moon day of Jyeshtha month, which this year falls on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. Kabir Das is remembered for his spiritual wisdom, simple teachings and inspiring poems known as ”Kabir de Dohe.”

Bengaluru Becomes India’s ‘Leopard Capital’, Surpassing Mumbai

Bengaluru has officially become the ‘Leopard Capital’ of India, surpassing Mumbai in terms of the highest number of free-ranging wild leopards living on the fringes of a major metropolis. According to a year-long survey conducted by the Holématthi Nature Foundation (HNF) and led by conservationist Dr. Sanjay Gubbi, an estimated 80–85 leopards currently inhabit the forests and scrublands surrounding Bengaluru. This makes the city a rare urban zone still teeming with apex predators and other large mammals, underlining its unique ecological value and the need for sustained conservation efforts.

Sri Lanka Celebrates Poson Poya: Honoring 2000 Years of Buddhism

Sri Lanka is observing the sacred Poson Poya festival today, which commemorates the arrival of Buddhism on the island nation over 2,000 years ago. Celebrated on the full moon day in June, this festival marks the momentous occasion when Arahat Mahinda, son of Emperor Ashoka of India, preached the first sermon to King Devanampiyatissa at Mihintale.
