World Wildlife Day is a global event observed annually to celebrate and raise awareness about the world’s wild animals and plants. In the face of an escalating triple planetary crisis, climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental pollution, over one million species are at risk of extinction. This day serves as a crucial reminder of the urgent need for conservation efforts and sustainable practices to protect endangered species and their habitats. Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the Sufi music festival Jahan-e-Khusrau on its 25-year journey, highlighting its role in preserving India’s cultural and artistic heritage. The Jammu and Kashmir Police registered its first-ever e-FIR at Police Station Khrew, marking a significant step towards digital policing. The complaint was filed via email and led to the registration of Case FIR No. 17/2025. The Punjab government has made it mandatory for all schools in the state, irrespective of their educational board, to teach Punjabi as a main and compulsory subject. The decision follows concerns over the alleged removal of Punjabi from the CBSE’s Class 10 regional language list.

The recent sighting of 85 Cape Vultures (Gyps coprotheres) in South Africa’s Eastern Cape after three decades marks a significant milestone for conservationists. These vultures, exclusive to Southern Africa, play a vital role in maintaining ecological balance by preventing disease spread through carrion disposal. Conservation efforts have helped stabilize their population, but vultures globally continue to face threats. This resurgence highlights the importance of sustained conservation initiatives.
