Kerala Tourism was presented the globally acclaimed Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Gold Award 2024 for its online contest ‘Holiday Heist’ in the Digital Marketing Campaign category, at a function in Bangkok. Tourism Director Sikha Surendran received the award at a function held during PATA Travel Mart 2024, at Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre (QSNCC) in the Thailand capital. The award was presented by Peter Semone, PATA Chair in the presence of Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Director, Macao Government Tourism Office and Noor Ahmad Hamid, PATA CEO.

Chandu Champion is based on the real-life story of Murlikant Petkar, born in a village near Sangli (Maharashtra). A spirited young boy who grows up dreaming about winning a gold medal for India at the Olympics in wrestling, Murli goes on to join the army and represents India in boxing. After being grievously injured during the 1965 war, following which he slipped in and out of coma for two years, he trained as a paralympic swimmer.

Indian duo of Sheetal Devi and Rakesh Kumar claimed the bronze medal in the mixed team compound archery competition at the Paralympics 2024 on September 2nd. Their victory was secured with a nail-biting 156-155 win over Italy’s Eleonora Sarti and Matteo Bonacina, marking only the second time that India has won a medal in archery at the Paralympics.

In a moment of sporting glory, Indian para-shuttler Nitesh Kumar achieved a monumental victory by clinching the gold medal in the men’s singles SL3 event at the Paris Paralympic Games 2024. Nitesh, making his debut at the Paralympics, displayed remarkable resilience and skill as he defeated Great Britain’s Daniel Bethell, a silver medallist at the Tokyo Paralympics, in a thrilling three-game match.

India’s Yogesh Kathuniya won the silver medal in the men’s discus throw F56 event at the Paris 2024 Paralympics on September 2. The 27-year-old Indian para-athlete secured the medal with his season-best throw of 42.22m in the final. Brazil’s Claudiney Batista took gold with a Paralympic record of 46.86m while Konstantinos Tzounis of Greece completed the podium with an effort of 41.32m.

Indian para-badminton star Suhas Lalinakere Yathiraj added yet another accolade to his remarkable career by winning the silver medal in the men’s singles SL4 category at the Paris 2024 Paralympics. The match took place at the historic Stade Pierre de Coubertin, where Suhas faced off against world champion Lucas Mazur. Despite a hard-fought battle, Suhas had to settle for silver, but his exceptional performance solidified his position as one of India’s top para-athletes.

Dutch multinational conglomerate Philips has appointed Bharath Sesha as the Managing Director for India, effective September 1. Sesha will lead the company’s growth strategy in India, focusing on enhancing customer satisfaction and driving operational excellence, particularly in the healthcare sector. He succeeds Daniel Mazon, who has transitioned to a global role at Philips’ headquarters in the Netherlands.

In a significant event marking the evolution of India’s judiciary, President Droupadi Murmu unveiled the new flag and insignia of the Supreme Court of India during the two-day National Conference of District Judiciary held in New Delhi. The ceremony, attended by members of the judiciary from across the nation, symbolized the rich cultural and legal heritage of India, encapsulated in the newly designed symbols of the highest court.
