World Coconut Day was established in 2009 by the Asian and Pacific Coconut Community (APCC), an intergovernmental organization under the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific. The APCC, representing 19 coconut-producing countries in the Asia-Pacific region, chose September 2 to commemorate the organization’s founding in 1969.

National Nutrition Week (NNW) is an annual observance in India, taking place from September 1 to 7. This week-long event is dedicated to raising awareness about the critical role of nutrition in our lives and promoting healthy eating habits among people of all ages. The primary objectives of National Nutrition Week are:

In a ceremony that underscored his exceptional contributions to the Olympic movement, President Emmanuel Macron of France was awarded the Olympic Order in gold. This prestigious distinction was bestowed upon him by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in recognition of his unwavering support for the Olympic Games Paris 2024 and his commitment to the Olympic ideals championed by Pierre de Coubertin. Macron’s Visionary Leadership and Commitment

India’s Nishad Kumar secured a silver medal in the men’s T47 high jump final at the Paris Paralympics on September 2. Kumar, who previously claimed silver in Tokyo, recorded his season-best jump of 2.04 meters to finish in second place. Townsend-Roberts of the United States claimed the gold medal with a season-best jump of 2.08 meters, pulling ahead of India’s Nishad Kumar. Russia’s Georgii Margiev took home the bronze.

Rubina Francis etched her name in Paralympic history on August 31, with a bronze medal in Paris. She rose on the occasion and clinched a bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol SH1 event. Para-athletes never have an easy journey, as they have to fight against all odds and show grit and resilience to reach the top, which was also the case with Rubina.

In a historic step towards developing sports infrastructure in Bihar, Hockey India announced that the upcoming Hockey Women’s Asian Champions Trophy 2024 will be held in Rajgir from November 11 to 20. The tournament will take place at the newly constructed Rajgir Hockey Stadium, where India will defend their title against teams from China, Malaysia, Japan, Thailand, and Korea.

Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Vayu Sena Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal, assumed the appointment of Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Central Air Command on September 1. Air Marshal Dixit was commissioned into the fighter stream of IAF on December 6, 1986. The Air Officer is an experimental test pilot and a qualified flying instructor with more than 3300 hours of flying experience on a variety of aircraft in the IAF inventory.

Air Marshal Tejinder Singh assumed the role of Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (DCAS) of the Indian Air Force at Air Headquarters (Vayu Bhawan) on Sunday. He began his tenure by paying tribute to the fallen heroes at the National War Memorial in New Delhi. An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Air Marshal Tejinder Singh was commissioned into the fighter stream of the IAF on 13 June 1987. With over 4,500 flying hours, he is a Category ‘A’ Qualified Flying Instructor and has furthered his military education at the Defence Service Staff College and National Defence College.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a commemorative postage stamp celebrating 75 years of the Supreme Court of India during the inaugural session of the District Judges Conference at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The event was attended by Supreme Court Chief Justice Dr. D.Y. Chandrachud, Minister of Law & Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal, and other dignitaries.
