World Meteorological Day 2024

Every year on March 23rd, the World Meteorological Day is celebrated. This day marks the establishment of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) in 1950. The WMO is a specialized agency of the United Nations. In 1950, on March 23rd, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) was founded. Its main purpose was to predict weather and climate changes. A year after its establishment, the WMO announced World Meteorological Day to celebrate its foundation day and raise awareness about the importance of weather and climate prediction.

World Meteorological Day 2024-Theme

The theme for World Meteorological Day 2024 is “At the Frontline of Climate Action“. This theme highlights the urgent need for action against climate change and its potentially catastrophic consequences. The WMO and its members are closely monitoring global, regional, and national climate conditions. They are emphasizing the importance of climate action to policymakers. The WMO also provides essential climate information, tools, and guidance to help countries make informed decisions. Additionally, they support the mobilization of climate finance for effective solutions.

Shaheed Diwas 2024

Shaheed Diwas, or Martyr’s Day, is a solemn occasion observed in India to pay homage to the brave souls who laid down their lives for the nation’s freedom struggle. Among the various dates commemorating sacrifices, March 23 holds a significant place in history. This date marks the execution of three iconic freedom fighters – Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru, and Sukhdev Thapar – by the British colonial government. Theme 2024 – Water for Peace

In 1992, the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro saw the first formal proposal of World Water Day under Agenda 21. The United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution in December 1992 by which March 22 was declared World Water Day.
