PM Narendra Modi Receives Slovakia’s Highest National Award

Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with the Slovakia’s highest national honour, i.e. The Order of the White Double Cross (1st Class) during his first official visit to Bratislava on 15th of June 2026. This award was presented by the Peter Pellegrini in recognition of the Modi’s contribution to strengthening the bilateral relations between India and Slovakia.

DRDO Successfully Tests Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile (LRLACM) in Odisha

Defense Research and Development Organization has conducted the successful flight-test of the Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile (LRLACM) and it was performed from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the Odisha coast on 15th of June, 2026. This missile successfully met the all the mission objectives and it demonstrates the country’s growing capability in the long-range precision strike systems.

Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth Appointed Next Army Chief

The Government has appointed Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth as the next Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) with effect from 30 June, succeeding General Upendra Dwivedi. He is currently serving as the Vice Chief of the Army Staff. An alumnus of National Defence Academy, Lt Gen Seth was commissioned into the Armoured Corps in December 1986 and has nearly four decades of military experience across operational, strategic, capability development, and institutional domains.

Mumbai Hosts 19th International Film Festival as Global Cinema Community Gathers for MIFF 2026

The 19th edition of the Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) begins on 15th June, 2026 in Mumbai and it marked the another significant milestone for the Asia’s one of the most respected film festivals which is dedicated to the non-feature cinema. It is organized by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and this festival serves as the global platform for the documentary filmmakers, animators, short fiction creators and emerging storytellers.
UK Announces Social Media Ban for Under-16 Users

United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced the landmark proposal to ban social media access for users who are under the age of 16. This move aims to protect the children from online harms, cyberbullying, addictive platform features and the potential mental health risks. If it gets ap[proval from Parliament this legislation is expected to be enacted by the end of the year 2026 and it comes into force in early 2027.
India Launches First Flex-Fuel Passenger Vehicle

Union Ministers Hardeep Singh Puri and Nitin Gadkari launched India’s first flex-fuel passenger vehicle developed by Maruti Suzuki in New Delhi. Flex-fuel vehicles can run on ethanol-petrol blends ranging from E20 to E100, supporting cleaner mobility and strengthening India’s energy transition and self-reliance goals. The initiative is expected to reduce emissions and crude oil import dependence, promote biofuel adoption, support farmers, enhance rural energy security, and generate significant employment opportunities while saving up to ₹1.44 lakh crore in foreign exchange.
