Maharashtra Day 2026: Celebrating Unity, Identity and Cultural Pride

Maharashtra Day is celebrated on May 1st every year and it marks the formation of the state of the Maharashtra as the separate state in the year 1960. The day is also known as the Maharashtra Divas and this day reflects the strong identity, unity and the cultural pride of Marathi-speaking people. This day is not just a public holiday but the reminder of the long struggle which have led to the creation of a linguistically unified state after the independence.

International Labour Day 2026

The International Labour Day which is also known as May Day will be observed on May 1, 2026 around the world to honor workers and their contributions to the society. This day recognizes the struggles of the labor movement and to promotes the fair wages, safe working conditions and the workers rights. In India it is also celebrated as the Antarrashtriya Shramik Diwas with the rallies, speeches and the awareness campaigns. The occasion serves as the reminder that the progress of nations is deeply rooted into the efforts of their workforce. Theme: “Ensuring a Healthy Psychosocial Working Environment.”

Gujarat Foundation Day 2026

The Gujarat celebrates the its Foundation Day on the May 1st every year after the creation of the state in the year 1960 after the its separation from the former Bombay State. The day is also known as Gujarat Gaurav Diwas and this occasion highlights the state’s rich cultural heritage and the remarkable development journey. In the year 2026 the state-level celebration is being held in the Surat and it will featuring the grand cultural programs and breathtaking police bike stunts which will symbolizing the vibrant blend of tradition, unity and modern spirit.

International Jazz Day is celebrated every year on 30 April to highlight jazz as a powerful form of cultural expression and unity. The day was proclaimed by UNESCO to promote peace, dialogue, and cooperation through music. It recognises the role of jazz in bringing people together, fostering creativity, and promoting cultural diversity worldwide.

Indian Scientist Parveen Shaikh Wins 2026 Whitley Award for Conservation Work

The Indian scientist Parveen Shaikh has been awarded the prestigious 2026 Whitley Award by the Whitley Fund for the Nature. This award recognizes the her impactful work to protecting the endangered Indian Skimmer and it aims to expand her community-led conservation model to the Prayagraj in the Ganga Basin This award ceremony was held at the Royal Geographical Society and the award presented by Princess Anne and highlighted the global recognition of grassroots conservation efforts.
