National Doctors Day, observed on July 1 every year in India, is a tribute to the tireless dedication and compassion of doctors. This day marks the birth anniversary of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, a legendary physician and former Chief Minister of West Bengal, whose contributions shaped modern healthcare in India. Celebrated since 1991, the day recognizes the immense sacrifices doctors make to keep communities healthy.            

The 71st National Film Awards for the year 2023 were officially announced on August 1, 2025, celebrating outstanding achievements in Indian cinema. The prestigious awards recognized exceptional contributions by actors, filmmakers, and technicians across the country. This year was particularly historic as Shah Rukh Khan won his first-ever National Award for Best Actor, while Rani Mukerji clinched the Best Actress award for her powerful performance. Alongside mainstream stars, several regional films like HanuMan, Parking, and 12th Fail also made a remarkable impact.

Alongside him, Rani Mukerji was honored with the Best Actress award for her gripping role in Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway, a film that highlighted the struggles of a mother fighting against a foreign legal system for her child’s custody.

Actor Vikrant Massey also bagged the Best Actor award for his inspirational role in 12th Fail, a film based on the real-life story of Manoj Kumar Sharma, who overcame poverty to become an IPS officer.

In a historic decision, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) on August 1, 2025, appointed Khalid Jamil as the head coach of the Senior Men’s Indian National Team. Senior IAS officer Shashi Prakash Goyal, a 1989-batch officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), has officially assumed charge as the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh, succeeding Manoj Kumar Singh, who retired on the same day. The Central Government has appointed BSF’s Special Director General Sanjay Singhal as the new Director General of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). He is a 1993-batch IPS officer from the Uttar Pradesh cadre. Sanjay Singhal will assume charge on September 1, 2025, and serve until his superannuation on December 31, 2028, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Australia has expanded its child online safety law to ban YouTube for users under 16, adding it to the list of restricted platforms alongside Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat. The inclusion of YouTube came after a survey revealed that 37% of minors encountered harmful content on the platform, despite its earlier exemption for educational purposes.
