Organized by the World Federation of Neurology (WFN), this day draws attention to neurological well-being, the importance of early interventions, and the adoption of brain-friendly lifestyle choices. As neurological disorders like dementia, stroke, and Parkinson’s disease are rising globally, this observance aims to empower individuals and communities to make brain health a personal and public health priority. The 2025 theme is “Brain Health for All Ages”,

India will host the FIDE World Cup 2025, one of the most prestigious events in international chess, from October 30 to November 27, 2025. This edition brings together 206 top players in a knockout format and will serve as a crucial qualification pathway to the 2026 FIDE Candidates Tournament.

India is set to launch the NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) satellite—the first collaborative Earth observation mission between ISRO and NASA on July 30, 2025, using the GSLV-F16 rocket from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC-SHAR), Sriharikota. The satellite will be placed in a Sun-synchronous orbit (SSO) at an altitude of 743 km with an inclination of 98.4°, enabling consistent observation of Earth’s surface in all weather and lighting conditions.

Senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Sanjay Kaul has officially assumed charge as the Managing Director and Group CEO of Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), India’s premier International Financial Services Centre (IFSC). His appointment marks a significant leadership transition for GIFT City, a flagship project in India’s financial infrastructure strategy. With over two decades of experience across various sectors including public policy, infrastructure, technology, and finance, Kaul’s leadership is expected to accelerate GIFT City’s vision of becoming a global financial hub.

The Maharashtra government has approved the renaming of Islampur town in Sangli district to Ishwarpur, with Cabinet approval already secured and the proposal sent to the Union government for final clearance. The demand to rename Islampur dates back to 1986 and was revived by the Hindutva outfit Shiv Pratisthan, led by Sambhaji Bhide, which had warned of continued agitation until the demand was fulfilled.
