Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi Inaugurates New North Jetty at Naval Base

Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi inaugurated the new North Jetty at the Naval Base in Kochi on March 27, 2025. The jetty is designed to enhance berthing capacity and support services for naval ships and auxiliary vessels, strengthening India’s maritime capability and operational efficiency.

DRDO & Indian Navy Successfully Test-Fire VLSRSAM Missile

The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Navy have successfully conducted the flight-test of the Vertically-Launched Short-Range Surface-to-Air Missile (VLSRSAM) on March 26, 2025. The test was carried out from a land-based vertical launcher at the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, Odisha. The missile successfully engaged and destroyed a high-speed aerial target at very close range and low altitude, proving its Near-Boundary-Low Altitude capability.

Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah Sworn in as Namibia’s First Female President

Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah made history on March 21, 2025, by becoming Namibia’s first female president. Her inauguration coincided with Namibia’s 35th Independence Day. A veteran of the South West Africa People’s Organisation (SWAPO), she won the November 2024 elections with 58% of the vote. The outgoing president, Nangolo Mbumba, handed over power during a ceremony attended by several African leaders. Nandi-Ndaitwah acknowledged that while Namibia has progressed since its independence in 1990, many challenges remain.

Rahul Bhave Appointed as MD & CEO of IFCI

The government has approved the appointment of Rahul Bhave as the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Industrial Finance Corporation of India (IFCI). Bhave, who previously served as Deputy Managing Director, has been appointed for a term of three years from the date he assumes office. The decision was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), chaired by the Prime Minister.

Canara Bank Appoints S. K. Majumdar as Executive Director

Canara Bank has appointed S. K. Majumdar as its Executive Director, effective March 24, 2025. Prior to this, he served as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the bank. With over 25 years of experience, Majumdar has played a vital role in various administrative and operational capacities within the organization. His extensive expertise in finance and leadership is expected to contribute significantly to the bank’s continued growth and governance.

Commemorative Postage Stamp Issued in Honor of Mata Karma

The Department of Posts, Government of India, has issued a commemorative postage stamp in tribute to Mata Karma, a revered saint, social reformer, and devoted follower of Lord Krishna. The stamp was unveiled in a special ceremony in Raipur, marking her 1009th birth anniversary. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Union Minister of State for Housing & Urban Affairs Tokhan Sahu. The issuance of this stamp highlights Mata Karma’s enduring legacy in Indian culture and spirituality.

India Becomes the World’s Top Milk Producer: Growth, Challenges & Future Goals

India has emerged as the top milk producer in the world, with a current production of 239 million metric tons (MMT). Union Minister of Animal Husbandry and Dairying Rajiv Ranjan Singh announced in the Lok Sabha that India aims to increase milk production to 300 MMT in the next five years. This growth has been significantly driven by the Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM), launched in 2014.
