Harmanpreet Singh Becomes Most Expensive Buy in Hockey India League Auction

India’s star drag-flicker and captain, Harmanpreet Singh, emerged as the most expensive player in the Hockey India League auction on Day 1. Soorma Hockey Club secured the services of the Indian captain for a whopping Rs 78 lakh, marking the highest bid on the first day of the auction, held on Sunday. A total of 54 players, including 18 international stars, went under the hammer as eight franchises vied to strengthen their squads with top talents from India and abroad.

GRSE’s Seventh ASW Ship, ‘Abhay’, Joins Indian Navy Fleet

On October 25, 2024, the Indian Navy’s seventh Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW SWC), named ‘Abhay’, was launched at M/s L&T’s Kattupalli facility. Built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE), this vessel marks a significant addition to India’s maritime defense capabilities. The launch ceremony was overseen by Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (FOC-in-C) of the Eastern Naval Command, with Mrs. Sandhya Pendharkar, President of the Navy Wives Welfare Association (NWWA) Eastern Region, performing the ceremonial launch.
