DRDO & Indian Navy Successfully Test Vertical Launch Short-Range SAM Off Odisha Coast

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Navy successfully conducted a flight test of the Vertical Launch Short Range Surface-to-Air Missile (VL-SRSAM) from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur, Odisha, on September 12, 2024, at around 3 PM. The missile system, launched from a land-based vertical launcher, engaged a low-flying, high-speed aerial target, demonstrating its operational effectiveness and tracking capabilities. The test validated several upgraded features, including the Proximity Fuse and Seeker, with performance monitored by instruments such as Radar, Electro-Optical Tracking System (EOTS), and Telemetry.

Rajnath Singh Inaugurates IDAX-24 Expo in Jodhpur

Rajasthan Cabinet approves 33% reservation for women in police force

Rajasthan Cabinet has approved 33% reservation for women in the police force by deciding to amend the State Police Subordinate Service Rules, 1989. The State Cabinet took the decision at its meeting held here, fulfilling a promise made by the BJP in its manifesto for the 2023 Assembly election to increase the representation of women. This will enable the police to work with more sensitivity in matters related to women, while this decision will also provide more employment opportunities to women.

Algeria Joins BRICS New Development Bank

Algeria has been officially authorized to join the BRICS New Development Bank (NDB), as announced by the bank’s president, Dilma Rousseff, during the ninth annual meeting in Cape Town. India Remains Top Source for Sri Lanka Tourism in 2024

India maintained the top spot for Sri Lanka in the first 8 months of this year. As per the data released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, the increase in tourist arrivals in the current year to date increased by 50.7 percent as against the same period in 2023.  

Nepal became 101st member of ISA

Nepal has become the 101st country to join the International Solar Alliance (ISA) as a full member. The Ministry of External Affairs said that Nepal handed over its Instrument of Ratification to the ISA in New Delhi on 9th September. The ISA is a global intergovernmental organization dedicated to advancing solar power adoption for a carbon-neutral future.
