India launches world’s first mobile-launched hybrid rocket, RHUMI-I
The world’s first mobile hybrid rocket, RHUMI-1, was successfully launched. The successful launch of the RHUMI-1 rocket also marks the launch of the first reusable hybrid rocket in India. The rocket was developed by Chennai-based startup Space Zone India in collaboration with Martin Group. The success of RHUMI-1 is expected to improve the efficiency and reduce the operational cost of rocket launches, making space exploration more accessible.

IAF’s Sarang Team Showcases India’s Aviation Prowess at Egypt Airshow
The IAF dispatched its Sarang Helicopter Display Team to participate in the inaugural edition of the Egypt International Airshow. The airport, situated along the Mediterranean, serves as a major hub for global air, commercial, and logistical transport, making it an apt location for an event of this magnitude.

Centre Appoints B Srinivasan as New NSG Director General
The Centre has appointed senior IPS officer B Srinivasan as the new Director General of the National Security Guard (NSG), according to a Personnel Ministry order issued on August 27. Srinivasan, a 1992 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the Bihar cadre, will serve as the NSG DG until August 31, 2027, the date of his superannuation. He is currently the director of Bihar Police Academy, Rajgir.
Jay Shah Elected as New International Cricket Council Chairman
Jay Shah has been elected unopposed as the new Chair of the International Cricket Council (ICC), succeeding Greg Barclay. This appointment marks a significant moment in cricket administration, as Shah becomes the youngest person ever to hold this prestigious position. Current role: Shah is presently serving as the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Commencement date: He will officially begin his new role as ICC Chair on December 1, 2024.

Mann dedicates Punjab Help Centre for NRIs at IGI Airport
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann unveiled a pioneering initiative for the Punjabi diaspora with the inauguration of the ‘Punjab Help Centre’ at Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi. This makes Punjab the first state in India to establish such a dedicated NRI Facilitation Centre, showcasing a robust commitment to supporting its overseas community. ‘Punjab Help Centre will operate 24X7, offering a range of services to assist NRIs and other passengers.
Delhi Airport 1st In Country To Get ‘Net Zero Carbon Emission’ Status
Delhi’s IGI Airport has become the first Indian airport to achieve the status of ‘Net Zero Carbon Emission Airport’ (Level 5 certification) under the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) programme of Airport Council International (ACI). Initially the airport had set a target of achieving a net zero carbon emission by 2030. But through various measures including use of renewable energy, promotion of electric vehicles and development of infrastructure for a green airport, DIAL achieved its target ahead of schedule.
Bihar government mandates Registration of Temples, Mutts, And Trusts
The Bihar government mandated registration of temples, mutts and trusts, and directed all District Magistrates in the State to ensure that the bodies are registered and details of their immovable assets are submitted to the Bihar State Board of Religious Trusts (BSBRT) soon. The BSBRT operates under the State’s Law Department and its records say there are about 2,512 unregistered temples and mutts across the State owning 4,321.64 acres of land.
