On August 3, 2024, India observes its 14th Indian Organ Donation Day, a significant event in the country’s healthcare calendar. This annual observance serves multiple crucial purposes: raising awareness about organ donation, honoring the selfless contributions of deceased donors and their families, and dispelling myths surrounding this life-saving practice.

Manu Bhaker, India’s two-time Olympic bronze medallist, has been chosen to be India’s flagbearer for the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics. According to sources from the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), Bhaker will represent India as the women’s flagbearer during the event. India’s men’s flagbearer for the ceremony is yet to be confirmed. The closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics will take place on August 11. Bhaker excelled in Paris, earning two bronze medals and setting several new records. The Paris Olympics has been a redemption for the 22-year-old shooter.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has appointed Inderjit Camotra’s reappointment as MD & CEO of Unity Small Finance Bank Limited (Unity Bank) for two years. Camotra brings over 28 years of experience in leadership roles at major banks including Standard Chartered, ANZ, and Citibank. During his tenure, Unity Bank has expanded significantly, accumulating a deposit base exceeding Rs 8,000 crore, a loan book surpassing Rs 8,500 crore, and establishing around 400 banking outlets across 21 states and union territories in India.

“VIRAASAT”, a fortnight long exhibition dedicated to celebrating 10th National Handloom Day began at Handloom Haat in Janpath on  3rd August, 2024. National Handloom Development Corporation Ltd (NHDC) is organising the handloom expo under the aegis of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India which will conclude on 16th August, 2024. The series “VIRAASAT”– the “Exclusive Handloom Expo” is a continuation of celebrations held during previous year around the National Handloom Day.
