India Wins Big At International Physics, Chemistry Olympiads

Indian students have secured two gold and three silver medals at the 54th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) 2024 held between July 21 and July 29 in Isfahan, Iran. In the 56th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO2024), held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from July 21 to 30, the Indian team bagged one gold and bronze each and two silver medals. In the Physics Olympiad, overall, India was placed in the fourth position, jointly with Vietnam. China bagged the top spot, followed by Russia and Romania in second and third positions, respectively. This time, a total of 193 students from 43 countries participated in the International Physics Olympiad.

Indian Army Launches E-SeHAT Tele-Consultancy for Veterans

The Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) has introduced the Electronic Services e-Health Assistance and Tele-consultation (E-SeHAT) module as of July 30, 2024. This initiative allows ECHS beneficiaries to receive online medical consultations from their homes, eliminating the need to visit ECHS Polyclinics. The E-SeHAT module offers structured, video-based consultations, aiming to enhance healthcare delivery for veterans by providing timely and quality medical care remotely.

Jia Rai: Youngest & Fastest Para-Swimmer to Cross the English Channel

16-year-old Jiya Rai from Mumbai has set a new world record as the youngest and fastest para-swimmer to cross the English Channel. Suffering from Autism Spectrum Disorder, Jiya completed her 34-kilometer swim from Abbot’s Cliff in England to Pointe de la Courte-Dune in France in 17 hours and 25 minutes on July 28-29, 2024.
India to Host Men’s Asia Cup Cricket in 2025

India is set to host the 2025 men’s Asia Cup in the T20 format, which will be a warm-up for the T20 World Cup scheduled for 2026. This decision comes after the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) issued an Invitation for Expression of Interest (IEOI). The Asia Cup is an important tournament that helps teams prepare for the World Cup. Since the 2026 World Cup will be in the T20 format, the 2025 Asia Cup will also be played in this format.

Jharkhand Got New Governor: Santosh Kumar Gangwar

Former Union Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar was on July 31 sworn in as the 12th Governor of Jharkhand. Mr. Gangwar, 76, succeeded C.P. Radhakrishnan, who was appointed as the Governor of Maharashtra. Acting Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court Sujit Narayan Prasad administered the oath of office to Mr. Gangwar.

India’s First Sunken Museum to Open at Humayun Tomb

India’s first sunken museum, located at the Humayun Tomb complex in Delhi, will have its grand opening on July 29, 2024. It will be open to visitors starting July 30. The museum’s launch aligns with the 46th UNESCO World Heritage Committee session, which will be attended by Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Prince Rahim Aga Khan.
