World Listening Day is observed on every year on 18 July. The purpose of celebrating World Hearing Day is to feel connected to the environment around us, society and culture through listening.
Theme 2024 – Listening to the Weave of Sound
This day also marks the birthday of Canadian composer and environmentalist Raymond Murray Schafer, who was also the founder of acoustic ecology. Raymond Murray Schafer was born on 18 July 1933. He developed his World Soundscape Project, which laid out the fundamental ideas and practices of acoustic ecology in the 1970s.

Sri Kurumba Trust Wins Global CSR ESG Award 2024
Sobha Group’s CSR wing, Sri Kurumba Educational and Charitable Trust, has been honoured with the “Best Child and Women Development Initiatives of the Year 2024.” This esteemed accolade was presented at the Global CSR, Sustainability, and ESG Awards 2024, at the Hyatt Regency, Gurgaon. Shaurya Bawa won bronze at World Junior squash
India’s Shaurya Bawa signed off with a bronze medal after going down 0-3 to Egyptian top seed Mohamed Zakaria in the boys’ singles semifinal of the World Junior Squash Championships in Houston. Bawa is only the second Indian male after Kush Kumar (in 2014) to reach the World Junior semifinals.
Sabeera Haris Wins Bronze at ISSF Junior World Cup
At the ISSF Junior World Cup in Porpetto, Italy, Indian shooter Sabeera Haris won third place in the women’s trap category. It was an amazing sports event. With this win, India added another medal to its collection at this important event. In the final round, Sabeera Haris showed how good she is at shooting by hitting 29 out of 40 targets. After Italy’s Sofia Gori, who won the silver medal by hitting 39 out of 50 targets, she made sure she would be on the podium.

Cricketer Virat Kohli has reclaimed the top spot to become India’s most valued celebrity, boasting a brand value of $227.9 million in 2023. However, this value still falls short of his peak brand value of $237.7 million in 2020, as reported by Kroll’s Celebrity Brand Valuation Report 2023. Cricketer Virat Kohli has reclaimed the number one spot with a brand value of $227.9 million, pushing Bollywood star Ranveer Singh to second place at $203.1 million, as per Kroll’s latest celebrity brand valuation study titled ‘Brands, Business, Bollywood’.
Chandipura Virus Infection Confirmed in Gujarat
The first confirmed death due to Chandipura virus infection in Gujarat was reported as a four-year-old child from Mota Kanthariya in Aravalli. The confirmation came from Pune’s National Institute of Virology. The virus, initially reported in north Gujarat, has spread to new areas, raising concerns about a potential outbreak with 14 deaths in two weeks and 26 suspected cases under investigation.
