This day commemorates his birth anniversary and recognizes his significant contributions to Indian society and the world. Swami Vivekananda, born on January 12, 1863, in Kolkata, was a key figure in the introduction of Indian philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga to the Western world. He is best known for his stirring speech at the 1893 Parliament of the World’s Religions in Chicago, where he introduced Hinduism to the Western audience. However, his influence extends beyond spiritual teachings; he played a crucial role in the revival of Hinduism and inspired a nationalist consciousness during the colonial era in India.

Rhythm Sangwan Clinches 16th Olympic Quota For 2024 Paris Games
n a remarkable feat at the Asian Shooting Championships 2024 in Jakarta, Indonesia, Rhythm Sangwan secured a bronze medal in the women’s 25m pistol event, obtaining a Paris 2024 Olympic quota for India. This accomplishment marked India’s 16th shooting quota for the upcoming Olympics, surpassing the previous record tally of 15 set for the Tokyo 2020 Games. During the intense 25m pistol final, Rhythm Sangwan showcased her skills, scoring 28 out of 45 to claim the bronze. The gold and silver medals were secured by Jiin Yang and Yeji Kim from the Republic of Korea, who shot 41/50 and 32/50, respectively.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has launched Ugram, a state-of-the-art assault rifle of the 7.62 x 51 mm calibre. The assault rifle has been designed for the operational requirements of armed forces, paramilitary and state police entities.

LG Unveils World’s 1st Wireless Transparent OLED TV
LG Electronics has unveiled the world’s first wireless transparent TV. Called LG Signature OLED T, the TV has a glass for a display that looks as if it disappears when turned off. The TV combines transparent OLED technology with wireless AV transmission and reception for viewers to “see beyond the screen and eliminating the need for visible wires around the screen”. The TV has a self-lit pixel technology that enables it to maintain the picture quality and it has a 4K resolution.
