5th Nagaland Honey Bee Day Celebrated In Kisama Village
The 5th Nagaland Honey Bee Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, under the theme “Bee & Honey Trials.” The event witnessed the presence of Deputy Chief Minister, Planning & Transformation and National Highway, T.R. Zeliang, who congratulated the mission and the accomplished Honey Bee farmers at both the State and District levels. T.R. Zeliang highlighted Nagaland’s rich beekeeping tradition, attributing its potential to become the epicenter of Apicultural activities. The State’s abundant nectar-rich flowering plants, favorable climatic conditions, rich vegetation, and ideal topography make it an ideal hub for beekeeping.
SAARC Charter Day: Celebrating 39 Years of Regional Cooperation
SAARC Charter Day is observed annually on 8th December, marking a significant milestone in the history of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC). This day commemorates the signing of the SAARC Charter in 1985 during the First SAARC Summit held in Dhaka. This year, the regional group celebrates its 39th Anniversary, highlighting the enduring commitment of South Asian nations to collaboration and mutual progress. The commitment of member states to the principles of the SAARC Charter continues to be a driving force for fostering collaboration, understanding, and progress in the region. Looking ahead, SAARC remains a vital platform for addressing shared challenges and building a brighter future for the people of South Asia. The SAARC Charter was signed by the Heads of State or Government of seven founding member countries: Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. The signing ceremony took place in Dhaka, Bangladesh, signifying the collective aspirations of the peoples and governments of South Asia to foster understanding, good neighborly relations, and meaningful cooperation.

Vice Admiral Dinesh Tripathi appoints as VC of Naval Staff
The Government of India has appointed Vice Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi as the new Vice Chief of Naval Staff. Currently, at the helm of the Indian Navy’s Western Command headquartered in Mumbai, Vice Admiral Tripathi is set to assume his new responsibilities on January 4, 2024. The present Vice Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral SJ Singh, will be stepping into the role of the new Western Naval Commander. Vice Admiral Tripathi has served in various prestigious roles, including Chief of Personnel at the Integrated Headquarters of the Ministry of Defence (Navy).

Akshata Krishnamurthy becomes first Indian to operate Mars rover
Akshata Krishnamurthy is an Indian woman who created history as she became the first person from the country to operate the Mars rover with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in the United States. Akshata is a PhD holder from the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). She is among the few Indians who joined NASA for a full-time opportunity. Akshata’s journey began 13 years ago when she came to the United States with a dream to work at NASA and lead science and robotic operations on Earth and Mars.

Garba of Gujarat makes it to UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list
Gujarat’s traditional dance form ‘Garba’ has been included in the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The popular dance form is the 15th cultural item from India to make it to the UNESCO list. Kolkata’s Durga Puja was the last one added two years ago. The Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage inscribed ‘Garba of Gujarat’ on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity during its 18th session, taking place in Kasane, Botswana.

UP Municipality passed proposal to rename Firozabad as Chandra Nagar
Firozabad Municipal Corporation in Uttar Pradesh has approved the proposal to rename Firozabad as Chandra Nagar. Firozabad is famous for the construction of bangles. It is located 40 kilometres from Agra and 250 km from the capital city on the east side. Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow is about 250 km east from here. Two towns come under Tundla and Shikohabad under the Firozabad district. Earlier the Indian Railways in October announced the renaming of three railway stations -Pratapgarh, Antu and Bishnathganj — in the Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh. Railways informed that the Pratapgarh station was renamed as ‘Maa Belha Devi DhamPratapgarh Junction’, Antu as Maa Chandika Devi Dham Antu, and Bishnathganj as ‘Shanidev Dham Bishnathganj’. Varanasi’s Manduadih Rail Station has also been renamed as Banaras.

Often referred to as the Jewish Christmas, Hanukkah or Chanukah is a festival celebrated for eight days, usually in the month of December. It is also known as the “festival of lights.” This year, Hanukkah festivities are taking place from December 7 to December 15. Hanukkah is observed to commemorate the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem around 200 BC. Legend has it that during the Maccabean Revolt, Jews rebelled against their Greek-Syrian oppressors, leading to the term “rededication.”
