At the Dharma Chakra Divas (3rd July), President of India highlighted the importance of Buddha’s teachings and called upon their attention to take inspiration from them. The Ministry of Culture, government of India in partnership with the International Buddhist Confederation (IBC) celebrated Dharma Chakra Day.
JAPAN INDIA MARITIME EXERCISE 2023 (JIMEX 23)
The seventh edition of the bilateral Japan-India Maritime Exercise 2023 (JIMEX 23) is set to take place from 5th to 10th July 2023 in Visakhapatnam, India. This exercise marks the 11th anniversary of JIMEX since its inception in 2012 and aims to enhance the interoperability and cooperation between the Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force (JMSDF) and the Indian Navy. The exercise will be conducted in two phases, the Harbour Phase and the Sea phase. The Harbour Phase will focus on professional, sports, and social interactions between the participating units. It provides an excellent opportunity for personnel from both navies to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and strengthen their bonds.
Following the Harbour Phase, the exercise will transition to the sea phase, where the two navies will jointly hone their warfighting skills and enhance interoperability. This phase will witness complex multi-discipline operations in the surface, sub-surface, and air domains.

Aadhav garnered an impressive 38 out of the 39 votes, defeating the incumbent president, K Govindaraj. Kulvinder Singh Gill, a former player and the president of the Madhya Pradesh Basketball Association, was elected as the secretary general.

2023 Global Peace Index: Iceland Tops as Most Peaceful Country, India’s Ranking and Key Findings
The 2023 Global Peace Index, released by the Institute for Economics and Peace, provides a comprehensive ranking of the most peaceful countries in the world. The 17th edition of the annual Global Peace Index (GPI), the world’s leading measure of peacefulness, reveals the average level of global peacefulness deteriorated for the ninth consecutive year, with 84 countries recording an improvement and 79 a deterioration. This demonstrates that the deteriorations were larger than the improvements, as the post-COVID rises of civil unrest and political instability remain high while regional and global conflicts accelerate.
V-C of Telangana horticulture university B. Neeraja Prabhakar is new oil palm RAC chairperson
B. Neeraja Prabhakar, the Vice-Chancellor of Sri Konda Laxman Telangana State Horticultural University, has been appointed as the chairperson of the Research Advisory Committee (RAC) for the ICAR-Indian Institute of Oil Palm Research (IIOPR) in Pedavegi, Andhra Pradesh. Ms. Prabhakar’s appointment as RAC chairperson is effective from June 13 and she will lead a committee of ten members for a duration of three years. In addition, Ms. Prabhakar serves as a member of the Telangana Oil Palm Advisory Committee, which advises the State government on matters such as expanding the area dedicated to oil palm cultivation, addressing issues related to oil palm farming, and supporting the oil palm processing industry. She has expressed Telangana’s commitment to alleviate the shortage of edible oil in the country by expanding oil palm cultivation to 20 lakh acres, with a target of reaching at least 10 lakh acres within the next four years. It is noteworthy that Telangana boasts the highest oil recovery rate from the oil palm bunches produced among all states in India.
Debadatta Chand takes charge as Bank of Baroda MD
Debadatta Chand has assumed charge as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Bank of Baroda (BoB). He has taken over charge from Sanjiv Chadha, whose tenure ended on June 30, 2023. Before this role, Chand was serving as the Executive Director at the bank since March 2021. He was overseeing corporate & institutional credit, corporate & institutional banking, treasury & global markets, mid-corporate business, and trade & foreign exchange.
