World Health Day 2023 celebrates on 7th April
Every year on April 7th, the World Health Day is celebrated to bring global attention to a specific health issue that impacts people worldwide. This day is also significant as it coincides with the founding day of the World Health Organisation (WHO) in 1948. This year marks the 75th anniversary of WHO. Each year, the WHO chooses a theme for the World Health Day, and various activities and events are organized to promote awareness of the issue. The aim is to encourage governments, organizations, and individuals to take action to improve global health and well-being.

Suzuki Motorcycle India appoints Kenichi Umeda as Managing Director
Kenichi Umeda has been appointed as the new Managing Director of Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. He takes over from Satoshi Uchida, who has completed his term as Managing Director. Umeda comes with over 27 years of industry experience across various global markets and will be responsible for growing and strengthening Suzuki Motorcycle India’s position in the Indian and overseas markets.
Kalikesh takes charge as NRAI president
Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, who held the position of Senior Vice-President, took over as the President of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI). This change occurred as the previous president, Raninder Singh, went on a long leave after the Sports Ministry issued a directive stating that the heads of national sports federations (NSFs) cannot hold office for more than 12 years, as per the National Sports Code. Raninder Singh, who was re-elected as the NRAI president in September 2021, went on leave following this directive.
Skyroot Aerospace test-fires advanced fully 3D-printed cryogenic engine
Skyroot Aerospace, a startup based in Hyderabad, India, has successfully test-fired an advanced, fully 3D-printed cryogenic engine, marking a significant milestone in the country’s indigenous space technology development. The test, which took place on March 25th, 2023, at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, saw the rocket engine operate for a duration of 75 seconds, demonstrating its ability to withstand the extreme temperatures and pressures of spaceflight.
Brazilian Dante Akira Uwai Wins Medal Design Competition for Gangwon 2024
Brazilian artist Dante Akira Uwai has won the Winter Youth Olympic Games Gangwon 2024 medal design competition. After six weeks and over 3,000 submissions to the International Olympic Committee competition, Akira Uwai’s creation – ‘A Sparkling Future’ – was chosen by a panel of judges including Olympian Laurenne Ross, former winner Zakea Page, IOC Young Reporters, Young Leaders, and Gangwon 2024 Youth Supporters. Akira Uwai’s victory means his design will feature on the medals for Gangwon 2024 which will be awarded in the Republic of Korea from 19 January to 1 February next year.
‘Subby’ Subramaniam appointed Warrant Officer of UK’s RAF
British-Hindu Murugesvaran ‘Subby’ Subramaniam has been appointed as Warrant Officer of the UK’s Royal Air Force, the aerial warfare and space force announced. The role involves advising the Chief of the Air Staff on matters related to RAF personnel. Subramaniam takes over from Warrant Officer Jake Alpert. Subramaniam is an Air and Space Operations Manager, whose service in the last 15 years has predominantly been in the Space-Based Infrared System (SBIRS), Missile Warning (MW), Space Domain Awareness (SDA), and Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) field.
J P Chalasani appointed as CEO of Suzlon board
The board of members of Suzlon Energy has appointed J P Chalasani as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company with immediate effect. He has replaced Ashwani Kumar, who resigned from the post on account of personal reasons. He had been Group CEO of Suzlon from April 2016 to July 2020 and continued as Strategic Advisor to the Suzlon Group thereafter.

Tsutsumu Otani appointed as Presiden of Honda motor
Japanese auto major Honda Motor Co Ltd has appointed Tsutsumu Otani as the President, CEO & Managing Director of Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India. He will succeed Atsushi Ogata, who returns to Shanghai, China. He is currently the Vice President at Honda Motor, Japan. He started his career with Honda Japan in 1997 and held several leadership positions in the company.
