World Vitiligo Day 2026
On 25th June, 2026 World Vitiligo Day observed worldwide and this day serves as the important global platform to raise the awareness about vitiligo, challenge misconceptions and to promote the acceptance of individuals who are living with the condition. The 2026 observance of the day will carries the powerful theme which is “From Stigma to Strength” and the slogan “Many Shades, One Voice” and also emphasizing the need to replace the discrimination and misunderstanding with empowerment, inclusivity, and self-confidence.
United Nations Public Service Day 2026
On 23rd June every year most of the countries all round the world observe the United Nations Public Service Day to recognize the contribution of the public servants and public institutions in to improving people’s lives. This day highlights the the vital role played by the government officials, administrators, healthcare workers, educators, law enforcement personnel and countless other public servants who work to deliver the essential services to the communities.

Jainendra K. Jain Becomes First Indian-Origin Scientist to Win Wolf Prize in Physics
US-based Indian-origin theoretical physicist Jainendra K. Jain became the first person of Indian origin to receive the Wolf Prize in Physics for his pioneering discovery of composite fermions. Jain was honoured for revolutionising the understanding of the fractional quantum Hall effect and advancing research on two-dimensional electron systems.
Green Oscars 2026: Two Indian Women Win Prestigious Whitley Awards for Environmental Conservation
India has once again earned global recognition in environmental conservation as two remarkable Indian women were honoured with the 2026 Whitley Awards, popularly known as the ‘Green Oscars’. The award recognises outstanding grassroots conservation leaders from across the world for their efforts in protecting biodiversity and restoring ecosystems. The prestigious ceremony took place at the Royal Geographical Society in London, where the awards were presented by Princess Anne of the United Kingdom on behalf of the Whitley Fund for Nature (WFN).

UCO Bank Appoints Rajendra Kumar Saboo as Additional MD & CEO
UCO Bank has appointed Rajendra Kumar Saboo, its Executive Director, as the additional Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO). Saboo has been given the additional charge following the completion of former MD & CEO Ashwani Kumar’s tenure on 31 May 2026. Rajendra Kumar Saboo, who joined UCO Bank as Executive Director in November 2022, will serve as MD & CEO until 31 August 2026, a regular appointment, or further orders, whichever is earlier.

Annual Ambubachi Mela Begins at Kamakhya Temple in Assam
