On 23rd June, 2026 every year millions of the people around the world come together to celebrate the Olympic Day. It is a global event which promotes the sport, physical activity, friendship and the core values of the Olympic Movement. It is more than just a tribute to the elite athlete and Olympic Day encourages the people of all ages and abilities to embrace the healthier lifestyles and experience the joy of the movement. The theme for Olympic Day 2026 is the, “Sport: Building Bridges, Breaking Barriers”

Neeraj Chopra Finishes Fourth at Doha Diamond League

Neeraj Chopra finished fourth at the Doha Diamond League with a best throw of 85.69 metres, marking his first competition of the season after recovering from a back injury. Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage won the event with a throw of 88.68 metres, while Anderson Peters (86.38 m) and Curtis Thompson (85.99 m) finished second and third, respectively.

India Wins Women’s 4x100m Relay Gold

On 21 June 2026, the Indian women’s 4x100m relay team, comprising Srabani Nanda, Sneha SS, Sudeshna Shivankar, and Tamanna, won gold at the Asian Relays Championships in Shangyu, China, clocking a season-best 43.85 seconds. China secured silver (44.09s) and Thailand took bronze (44.11s). India also claimed a silver medal in the mixed 4 x 400m relay (3:17.06) and a bronze in the mixed 4 x 100m relay (41.47s). Notably, athletes Tamanna and Sneha Shanuvalli finished the competition with two medals each. Following this successful campaign, India is slated to host the third edition of the Asian Relays Championships in Chandigarh in 2027.

Animated Film Bharati Aur Bibo Premieres at MIFF 2026 Honouring Women Icons

The nineteenth Mumbai International Film Festival hosted the highly anticipated world premiere of the Hindi animation series Bharati Aur Bibo. Co-produced by the National Film Development Corporation and Puppetica Media under the direction of Sneha Ravishankar, the project functions as a historic edutainment initiative. Centered around young Bharati and her magical companion Bibo, the series features unedited, realistic depictions of legendary Indian women leaders and change-makers, including Ahilyabai Holkar, Rani Durgavati, Rani Rashmoni, and Saalumarada Thimmakka.

Tushar Mehta Reappointed as Solicitor General of India for Three Years

The Union Government has reappointed the senior advocate Tushar Mehta as the Solicitor General of India for a new fresh term of the three years and reaffirmed the confidence in him. This decision was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) and will take effect from the 1st of July, 2026.
