World Sickle Cell Day 2026

On 19th of June, World Sickle Cell Day will be observed to raise the awareness about the Sickle Cell Disease (SCD), it is world’s one of the most common inherited blood disorders. This days serves as the important platform to educate people about the causes, symptoms, prevention strategies and challenges faced by the millions of patients worldwide. In India, observance of the day intensifies the governments efforts to eliminate the Sickle Cell Disease as a public health challenge by 2047. The official theme for World Sickle Cell Day 2026 is the “Closing the Survival Gap: Equity in Sickle Cell Disease.”

Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma creates the history as she become the joint-highest wicket-taker in international women’s cricket. Sudarsan Pattnaik Becomes First Indian to Win Russia Grand Sand Master Cup 2026

Padma Shri awardee Sudarsan Pattnaik from Puri, Odisha, won the Russia Grand Sand Master Cup 2026, becoming the first Indian to receive the prestigious international sand art award. Pattnaik received the honour at the II International Festival of Sand Sculpture in Kaliningrad, Russia, for his 3-metre-high sand sculpture depicting the two contrasting faces of Earth.

Uzbekistan Becomes First Central Asian Member of New Development Bank

Uzbekistan has officially become the first Central Asian country to join the New Development Bank (NDB) and it marked the significant milestone in the expansion of the BRICS backed multilateral financial institution. The Republic of Uzbekistan formally became the shareholder of the NDB on5th of June, 2026 after completing all the necessary accession procedures and ratifying the bank’s Articles of the Agreement.

Kerala Government Launches Free Bus Travel Scheme for Women and Transgenders
