National Technology Day Marks Pokhran-II Tests

National Technology Day is observed in India on 11 May every year. The day commemorates the Pokhran-II nuclear tests of 1998, which were conducted at the Pokhran Test Range in Rajasthan on 11 May and 13 May 1998. Pokhran-II was also called Operation Shakti. The series included five nuclear detonations, with three underground tests carried out on 11 May 1998 and two additional fission tests on 13 May 1998. The tests included a 45-kiloton thermonuclear device, a 15-kiloton fission device, and a 0.2-kiloton sub-kiloton device.

DRDO and Indian Air Force successfully carry out the first flight test of the TARA weapon system in Odisha

The DRDO and the Indian Air Force successfully executed the maiden flight test of the Tactical Advanced Range Augmentation (TARA) system at the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur. This indigenous project focuses on significantly enhancing the precision and effective range of existing aerial munitions through advanced propulsion and guidance modules. During the trials, the system demonstrated high accuracy in hitting long-distance targets, validating its aerodynamic stability and structural integrity.

C. Joseph Vijay Sworn In As the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu

The actor turned politician C. Joseph Vijay was sworn in as the new Chief Minister of the State of Tamil Nadu on 10th of May, 2026. The oath taking ceremony was took place at the Chennai’s Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in the august presence of the political leaders, party people, noted celebrities and thousands of supporters. As Vijay assumed the Chair of CM post the state has witnessed the end of nearly six decades of two party rule between the DMK (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) and AIADMK (All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam).

India Introduces First Barrier-Free Tolling System on Major Highway in Gujarat

India has launched the first Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) tolling system in Gujarat. This system was implemented by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and it went live at the Chorayasi Toll Plaza on the Surat–Bharuch stretch of NH-48. On the opening day around 41,500 vehicles passed through seamlessly without stopping and it marks the important shift towards the faster, smarter and technology driven toll collection.

Chief Justice Surya Kant Declares Sikkim First Paperless Judiciary in India

Respectable Chief Justice of India Surya Kant has announced that Sikkim has become the India’s first fully paperless judiciary. This declaration was made during a national conclave in Gangtok, Sikkim and highlighting the India’s push towards digital justice delivery. This transformation has ensures that court processes are no longer dependent on the physical paperwork and making justice more accessible and efficient.
