The festival celebrates the harvest season and also the Punjabi New Year. The day also holds the deep religious significance for the Sikh community as the day marks the formation of the Khalsa Panth.

Sawan Barwal Breaks 48-Year-Old Indian Marathon Record at Rotterdam Marathon 2026
India’s Sawan Barwal has broken the country’s longest standing marathon national record and ended the 48-year old record which was set by the Shivnath Singh earlier. The historic achievement comes at the prestigious NN Marathon Rotterdam on the 12th of April, 2026. This feat have added another important chapter in the India’s athletic journey.

Banaras Hindu University Wins National Moot Court Competition in India
The remarkable achievement comes as the Banaras Hindu University has emerged winner at the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) National Moot Court Competition 2026. This competition was held at Integral University. Indian Army Participates in India–Egypt Joint Special Forces Exercise ‘Cyclone-IV’ at Anshas
An Indian Army contingent of 25 Special Forces personnel has departed for Egypt to participate in the 4th edition of India–Egypt Joint Special Forces Exercise “Cyclone-IV”, scheduled at Anshas, Egypt. The exercise aims to enhance joint mission planning, interoperability, and special operations capabilities through training in a realistic operational environment with Egyptian Special Forces.

Sanjay Khanna Appointed as Chairman & Managing Director of BPCL
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Sanjay Khanna as the new Chairman and Managing Director (C&MD) of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL). He will serve in this role until May 31, 2029, leading one of India’s major public sector oil and gas companies.

No more cash at toll plazas: India shifts to FASTag and UPI-only payments from April 11
India’s push towards the cashless and the efficient transportation system it have implemented the digital only toll collection across the toll plazas on the National Highways. Starting from the 11th of April, 2026 all the toll payments are processed exclusively via FASTag and UPI and it will be eliminating the cash transactions. This move aims to enhance the transparency, reduce congestion and time, also improve the user convenience. However the rollout is temporarily not to implemented for the sometimes because of the ongoing elections in the India.
