Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas is observed every year on 25th June to remember the day in 1975 when the Indian Constitution was severely undermined during the Emergency period, and to pay homage to those who suffered due to its excesses.
On 25th June 1975, President Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed declared a state of Emergency under Article 352, citing internal disturbances amid political unrest and judicial challenges to Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s government.
