UN Celebrates First International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations

In a landmark step towards promoting mutual respect, global solidarity, and intercultural understanding, the United Nations has declared 10 June as the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations, starting in 2025. The inaugural celebration is marked by a UNESCO-hosted event in Paris on 5 June 2025, in collaboration with the Permanent Delegation of the People’s Republic of China. The symposium titled “Youth Dialogue on the Future along the Silk Roads” aims to revive the spirit of cooperation, cultural exchange, and dialogue among civilizations, particularly through the eyes of the youth.
India Celebrates World Accreditation Day 2025

The Quality Council of India (QCI), India’s apex body for establishing and promoting quality standards across sectors, marked World Accreditation Day 2025 with a significant event held at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The celebration, themed “Accreditation: Empowering Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)”, brought together industry leaders, policymakers, accreditation bodies, and stakeholders to reaffirm India’s dedication to quality, innovation, and inclusive growth. This day is observed on June 9th every year.

MS Dhoni Inducted into ICC Hall of Fame

In a moment that further cements his place among cricket’s all-time greats, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, former India captain and one of the most iconic cricketers of his generation, was officially inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame during a prestigious event held in London. With this honour, Dhoni becomes the 11th Indian cricketer, and the ninth Indian male player, to be recognised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for his extraordinary contributions to the game.

Indian Grandmaster Aravindh Chithambaram has won the 6th Stepan Avagyan Memorial chess tournament held in Jermuk, Armenia. He scored 6.5 points in 9 rounds. Although he tied with fellow Indian Grandmaster R. Praggnanandhaa, Aravindh was declared the winner based on the tiebreak system.

Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai Appointed Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Strategy)

In a major development within the Indian Army’s top leadership, Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai was appointed as the Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Strategy) on Monday. This appointment places him in charge of a critical vertical that oversees the Operations and Intelligence Directorates—a role considered among the most strategically vital positions in the Indian Army. According to an official statement from the Ministry of Defence, Lt Gen Ghai will continue to serve concurrently as the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO), a position he has held since October 25, 2024.
Sat Pal Bhanoo Given Interim Charge as LIC MD & CEO for Three Months

The central government has entrusted Sat Pal Bhanoo, Managing Director at LIC, with the financial and administrative powers of the MD & CEO position after Siddhartha Mohanty’s term ended. Interim tenure duration: Bhanoo will hold the interim charge for three months—from 8 June to 7 September 2025—or until a new permanent MD & CEO is appointed, whichever comes first.

India’s First E-Waste Recycling Park to Rise in Delhi’s Holambi Kalan

In a significant move towards sustainable development and cleaner urban living, the Delhi government has announced the establishment of India’s first electronic waste (e-waste) eco park. The facility will be constructed in Holambi Kalan, located in North Delhi, and is poised to become a national model for circular economy practices. The announcement was made on Monday by Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa following a high-level meeting with officials of the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC). The meeting concluded with a commitment to issue a global tender to bring in top-tier green technology partners from around the world.
