International Dance Day is celebrated every year on 29th April, established in 1982 by the International Theatre Institute (ITI), the main partner for the performing arts of UNESCO. The date commemorates the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre (1727–1810), a French dancer and ballet master considered the creator of modern ballet. The aim is to celebrate dance as a universal art form, break cultural and political barriers, and promote participation and education in dance through events and performances globally.

Amazon Launched Satellite for Project Kuiper Broadband Internet

Amazon has initiated the deployment of its ambitious $10 billion Project Kuiper, launching its first batch of 27 satellites aimed at providing global broadband connectivity, especially to remote and rural areas. This launch marks the beginning of Amazon’s challenge to SpaceX’s Starlink, which already has over 8,000 satellites in orbit and millions of users worldwide.
From Earth to Orbit: Shubhanshu Shukla’s Journey to the ISS Begins May 29

India is set to mark a historic milestone in its space journey as Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla will be the first Indian astronaut to fly to the International Space Station (ISS) and the first Indian to enter space in over 40 years. He will serve as the pilot of Axiom Mission 4 (Ax-4), a commercial mission organized by Axiom Space and launched via SpaceX. This mission will also carry out scientific experiments, including seven Indian microgravity research projects, and represents a major step in international collaboration and human spaceflight by India.

IAS Vinod Kumar Gunjiyal Assumes Charge as the Chief Electoral Officer of Bihar

In preparation for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections in October-November 2025, the Election Commission has appointed IAS officer Vinod Kumar Gunjiyal, a 2007-batch officer of the Bihar cadre, as the new Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Bihar. Known for his administrative acumen and diverse departmental experience, Gunjiyal brings with him a strong governance track.
YouTube Appoints Gunjan Soni as Country Managing Director for India

Gunjan Soni has been appointed as the new Country Managing Director for YouTube India. She replaces Ishan Chatterjee, who joined JioCinema in October 2024. She will oversee the platform’s operations, content strategy, and partnerships, driving YouTube’s growth in the Indian market. Before this role, Soni held leadership positions at Myntra and Flipkart, bringing extensive experience in e-commerce and digital marketing.

Amaravati to be world’s first fully renewable-powered city

Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh’s planned capital city, aims to become the world’s first city powered entirely by renewable energy, targeting a 2,700 MW capacity through sources like solar, wind, and hydropower. The foundation stone for the capital city is expected to be laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi this month, with the project covering 217 square kilometers, a part of the larger 8,352 sq km Andhra Pradesh Capital Region.
