National Milk Day is celebrated every year on November 26 in India to recognize the immense contribution of milk and the dairy industry to the country’s growth. This day marks the birth anniversary of Dr. Verghese Kurien, also known as the Father of the White Revolution in India. Dr. Kurien’s revolutionary initiatives helped transform India into the largest milk producer in the world. This day is not just a tribute to Dr. Kurien’s legacy, but also a celebration of milk as a vital nutritional resource and an economic powerhouse for rural India.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a 13-year-old cricketer from Bihar, has made history by becoming the youngest player ever to be signed at an IPL auction. On Day 2 of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction in Jeddah, the Rajasthan Royals acquired Suryavanshi for a whopping Rs. 1.10 crore, defeating the Delhi Capitals in a heated bidding war. This incredible achievement has placed Suryavanshi firmly in the spotlight as a rising star in Indian cricket.

India scripted history, on November 25, 2024, with a massive 295-run victory against Australia in the first Test of the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy series at the Optus Stadium, Perth. This stunning win gave India a 1-0 lead in the series and marked a significant milestone in their Test cricket journey. This triumph shattered a 47-year-old record, making it India’s biggest victory against Australia in Australia in terms of runs. The previous record stood at 222 runs, achieved at Melbourne on December 30, 1977.

Bihar will host the Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) and Khelo India Para Games (KIPG) in 2025. KIYG is a national-level, multi-disciplinary sports competition for school and college students in India. It aims to promote sports culture and identify sporting talent at the grassroots level. The games are held annually in January or February and are part of the government’s Khelo India initiative. For the first time and in the lines of the Summer Olympics, the Khelo India Para Games will also be held in Bihar. The first edition of the Para Games was held in Delhi last year. Previously the Khelo India Youth Games 2023 were held in Tamil Nadu in January this year.

Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer Shri Dinesh Bhatia has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to Brazil. The Ministry of External Affairs made the announcement on November 25, 2024. A 1992-batch IFS officer, Bhatia brings extensive diplomatic experience, having served in multiple countries and various key roles both in India and abroad.

Balasubramanian, a distinguished Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer from the 1998 batch, has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Maldives. With extensive diplomatic experience spanning key global postings, his appointment underscores India’s strategic emphasis on strengthening its ties with the Maldives, a crucial partner in the Indian Ocean Region.

The Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) has recommended Binod Kumar, currently Executive Director of Punjab National Bank (PNB), for the role of Managing Director and CEO of Indian Bank. Kumar is set to replace S L Jain, who will retire next month. The FSIB’s decision follows a rigorous selection process involving 15 candidates. This comes after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) raised concerns over the previously selected candidate, Asheesh Pandey, leading to a fresh interview round. The final approval for Kumar’s appointment will be made by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
