The theme for 2024 is “Connecting People and Plants, Exploring Digital Innovation in Wildlife Conservation.” This forward-looking theme highlights the intersection of technology and nature conservation, recognizing the potential of digital tools in advancing environmental protection efforts.

The International Day of Friendship is observed annually on July 30th. In 2024, this significant day will once again bring focus to the importance of friendship in fostering global peace and understanding. The International Day of Friendship was officially proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 2011. This proclamation was a significant step in recognizing the role of friendship in diplomacy and international relations.

While the specific theme for 2024 has not been announced as of my last update in April 2024, the overarching message of the International Day of Friendship remains consistent: promoting friendship between peoples, countries, cultures, and individuals to inspire peace efforts and build bridges between communities.

The 30th of July marks the annual World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, a crucial observance that brings global attention to the ongoing fight against human trafficking. This year’s theme, “Leave No Child Behind in the Fight Against Human Trafficking,” underscores the urgent need to protect one of society’s most vulnerable groups: children.

In a remarkable display of skill and precision, Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh has secured a bronze medal in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event at the Paris Olympics. The Indian pair triumphed over South Korea’s Oh Ye Jin and Lee Wonho, bringing home the second medal for India at these Games. This victory is particularly notable as it marks the second bronze for Manu Bhaker at the Paris Olympics, making her the first Indian to win two medals in a single edition of the Olympic Games since Independence.

SpaceX and NASA said on July 26, they plan to launch the space agency’s Crew-9 mission to the International Space Station (ISS) no earlier than Aug. 18. The announcement comes a day after the Federal Aviation administration cleared SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket to return to space following a rare mid-flight failure earlier this month had grounded it. The Falcon 9, the world’s most frequently used rocket, was grounded after one rocket broke apart in space and doomed its payload of Starlink satellites.

In a  ceremony to mark the International Meet of leading medical celebrities, professionals and Medicos from all over the country and abroad, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh was conferred the prestigious “Lifetime Achievement Award”. In recognition of his exemplary dedication to the advancement of diabetology, diabetes care and diabetes research he earned acknowledgement across the country and overseas.

During his three day visit to Laos, the External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar unveiled a special commemorative stamp set showcasing Ram Lalla’s idol from Ayodhya. Being touted as the first postage stamp in the world to be dedicated to Lord Ram’s Ayodhya idol, Jaishankar posted about the unveiling on X and said, “Launched a special stamp set celebrating our shared cultural treasures of Ramayana and Buddhism.”

The Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) celebrated its 18th Foundation Day at its Prithvi Bhavan Headquarters today on July 27, marking nearly two decades of significant contributions to Earth system sciences. Founded on July 27, 2006, MoES has been at the forefront of scientific research and services. The Ministry’s achievements span across all spheres of earth system sciences: air or atmosphere, water or hydrosphere, land or lithosphere, solid earth or cryosphere, life or biosphere and their interactions, reflecting its commitment to scientific and technological progress.
