Indian Revenue Service officer InderPal Singh Bindra will soon take charge as the Secretary of the Competition Commission of India (CCI). Bindra will replace IRS officer Anupama Anand, who has resigned within eight months of joining the regulator. Bindra’s tenure at the CCI is slated for a period of three years from the date he assumes office. In response to his party’s heavy loss in the European Parliamentary elections, French President Emmanuel Macron has dissolved the National Assembly and called for snap parliamentary elections. The far-right Rassemblement National (RN) secured a significant victory, winning 31.5% of the vote compared to Macron’s Renaissance Party’s 15.2%. Macron announced the dissolution of the National Assembly in an hour-long national address, citing the need to restore trust in the French electoral process.

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations released The State of World Fisheries and Aquaculture 2024, its flagship report providing a comprehensive analysis of the global and regional status and trends in fisheries and aquaculture. It shows, for the first time in 2022, that aquaculture production exceeded fisheries.
