On the 9th of June, we commemorate International Archives Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about the crucial role of records and archives in our society. These repositories of knowledge serve as the guardians of our collective memory, safeguarding the stories, events, and achievements that have shaped our past and continue to influence our present and future. The idea of establishing a specific day to honor the importance of archives emerged during the 2004 International Congress on Archives held in Vienna. Over 2,000 participants from around the world adopted a resolution, urging the United Nations to designate a day that would highlight the value of these invaluable resources.
