Ashwin Surpasses Kumble to Become India’s Leading Wicket-Taker in Tests at Home
Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin etched his name in cricketing history, surpassing legendary leg-spinner Anil Kumble to become the leading wicket-taker in Test matches played on Indian soil. The feat unfolded during the third day of the ongoing fourth Test match between India and England in Ranchi. Ashwin dismissed Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope, taking his tally to 351 wickets in Tests played in India. This eclipsed Kumble’s previous record of 350 wickets achieved in 63 matches.

Bhupinder Kumar (IAS) appointed as DCR of J&K and Ladakh
The Central Government has approved the appointment of Bhupinder Kumar (IAS) for the post of Director of Census Operations (DCO)/Director of Citizen Registration (DCR) (Deputy Secretary level) of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. Kumar has been appointed to the post under the Central Staffing Scheme on additional charge basis with effect from the date of taking over charge of the post and for a period up to December 31, 2025 or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Kumar is a 2011-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of AGMUT cadre.
Tatung Padi appointed as Director in Skill Development Ministry
Tatung Padi has been appointed as Director in the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. Padi has been appointed to the post under the Central Staffing Scheme for a period of five years from the date of taking over charge of the post until further orders. Padi is an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer of 2009-batch. He was recommended for the Central deputation by the Department of Revenue.

Scientists Achieve First Successful Laser-Cooled Positronium For Quantum Research
For the first time, an international collaboration of researchers has successfully demonstrated the laser cooling of Positronium, a short-lived hydrogen-like atom that provides an ideal testing ground for bound-state quantum electrodynamics. the AEgIS team has described the laser cooling of Positronium atoms achieved from ~380 Kelvin (106.85 degrees Celsius) to ~170 Kelvin (minus 103.15 degrees Celsius), using a 70-nanosecond pulsed alexandrite-based laser system.

Algeria celebrated the grand opening of what has been acclaimed as “Africa’s largest mosque” and the third-largest mosque in the world. President Abdelmadjid Tebboune presided over the ceremony, officially revealing the Great Mosque of Algiers as the world’s third-largest mosque.
