Russia stages the 78th Victory Day parade at Red Square, Moscow

Russia held the 78th Victory Day parade anniversary on May 9th, at Red Square in Moscow to celebrate the historic victory of the Soviet Union in 1945, when they defeated Nazi Germany in World War II, also known as the Great Patriotic War. This year’s parade featured more than 10,000 individuals and 125 pieces of weaponry, which were all showcased by the Russian Defense Minister, Sergey Shoigu.

Argentina’s Lionel Messi wins Laureus sportsman of the year 2023

Lionel Messi, who led Argentina to victory in the 2022 World Cup as their captain, was honored with the Laureus Sportsman of the Year award at a ceremony held in Paris. In addition to that, Messi accepted the World Team of the Year award on behalf of the Argentina men’s football team, who won the championship in Qatar. Telangana CM lays foundation for Hare Krishna Heritage Tower in Hyderabad

New Lithium deposits discovered in Rajasthan after J&K

Lithium reserves have been discovered in Rajasthan’s Degana following the recent discovery in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi. The newly discovered reserves in Degana are believed to be larger than those found in Jammu and Kashmir and officials claim that they could meet up to 80% of India’s demand for lithium. This is the first time that lithium reserves have been found in Degana.

Asteroid 2023 HG1 Hurtling Through Space towards Earth at 7200 Kmph

Details have been released by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory about five asteroids that will approach Earth closely in May. Asteroid 2023 HG1 is currently travelling towards Earth at a speed of 7200 KMPH (2 KMPH) and is estimated to be the size of a house. On May 9, 2023, it is expected to pass within 2,590,000 miles (4,160,000 km) of Earth, with a diameter of 60 feet (18 metres).

Pakistan’s economic crisis: Hajj quota given up to Saudi Arabia

For the first time in 75 years, Pakistan has made the decision to surrender its Hajj quota to Saudi Arabia. This move was prompted by the rising inflation in the country, which has caused thousands of Pakistanis to forgo the pilgrimage this year. In total, Pakistan has returned 8,000 unused seats, which will save the government a considerable amount of money totalling $24 million.

The 42nd Summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has kicked off in Indonesia with a theme of “ASEAN Affairs: Epicenter of Growth.” The summit aims to demonstrate the bloc’s hopes and efforts to become the center and driving force behind global development. President Joko Widodo, who holds the presidency of the bloc, emphasized the enormous potential of the ASEAN region, which has a total population of around 650 million inhabitants and consistently outperforms the world average in terms of economic growth. He called on member countries to unite in terms of production power to make Southeast Asia the center of global growth.

It has been co-written with Manju Sara Rajan. K. Shailaja is an Indian politician and former Health Minister of Kerala who hails from Kannur district.
