World Population Day 2026

Every year, July 11 is celebrated as World Population Day, the day observes to raising awareness regarding important population-related issues and challenges. This day was set up by the UNDP in the year 1989 and emphasizes the importance of reproductive health, family planning, gender equality, and the importance of making informed decisions. As the world attempts to deal with the demographic changes, World Population Day of 2026 looking at the empowerment of the youth of the world. The official theme for World Population Day 2026 is “Realizing the hopes and aspirations of young people: today and in the future.”

Indian Air Force Ranked World’s 3rd Strongest Air Force in WDMMA 2026

For the fifth time a row, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has clinched the third position in the World Directory of Modern Military Aircraft (WDMMA) 2026 Global Air Power Rankings, it is ahead of the People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) of China. But it besides the USAF and the Russian Air Force, the IAF is ranked third only in terms of the number of its fleet of aircraft but also in terms of the operational capabilities of the aircraft, the diversity of the its aircraft types, modernization and logistics of the IAF.

Telangana to Host 8th Khelo India Youth Games 2026 in November

Telangana will host the 8th Khelo India Youth Games 2026, scheduled to be held in November 2026, as announced by Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr Mansukh Mandaviya. The multi-sport grassroots event is expected to witness the participation of over 8,000 athletes, coaches, support staff, and officials, making it one of India’s largest youth sporting events.

Indian Team Wins Five Golds at International Physics Olympiad

India won five gold medals at the 56th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) 2026 held in Bucaramanga, Colombia, from 5 to 12 July 2026. The Indian team finished joint World No. 1 with China, Kazakhstan, Russia, South Korea, and Taiwan in a competition that included 381 students from 87 countries. The International Physics Olympiad is an annual global competition for secondary school students in physics. It is one of the five International Science Olympiads and includes theoretical and experimental examinations.

RBI Approves Mahesh Muralidhar Pai as MD & CEO of South Indian Bank

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved the appointment of Mahesh Muralidhar Pai as the Managing Director & CEO of South Indian Bank (SIB) for a three-year term, effective October 1, 2026. P R Seshadri, the present Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, has been at the helm at SIB since October 1, 2023.

MEA Appoints Sanjeev Jain as India’s Next Ambassador to North Korea

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has appointed Sanjeev Jain as India’s next Ambassador to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), commonly known as North Korea. Sanjeev Jain, currently serving as India’s Ambassador to the Republic of Cabo Verde, will succeed Aliawati Longkumer as India’s envoy to North Korea.
