Palak and Mukesh Win ISSF World Cup Gold

At the ISSF (International Shooting Sport Federation) World Cup in Granada, Spain Indian shooters Palak and Mukesh Nelavalli secured gold in the 10m air pistol mixed team event with a world record score of 487.7, on 7 April. This historic feat, which also set a senior and junior world record, saw India outperform China and Hungary. Palak (scored 243.0), an Asian Games gold medalist, and Mukesh (contributed 244.7), a junior world champion, demonstrated elite consistency throughout the competition, making their combined tally to a record-breaking 487.7.

Payal Nag Becomes World’s First Quadruple Amputee Archer Champion

Payal Nag, an 18-year-old girl from Odisha, has made history as the world’s first quadruple amputee to win an international archery gold at the World Para Archery Series in Bangkok on 7th April. She defeated the World No. 1 Sheetal Devi,her compatriot, in the finals to clinch the gold. After losing her limbs in a childhood accident, she was mentored by coach Kuldeep Kumar Vedwan at the Mata Vaishno Devi Academy, Katra, Jammu & Kashmir.

Abhay Singh was named Men’s Player of the Year 2025 by the Asian Squash Federation, while Anahat Singh won the top honour in the girls’ junior category.

The Indian boys’ team received the Men’s Team Award after winning bronze at the World Junior Team Championships 2025. Japan’s Satomi Watanabe bagged the senior ASF Women’s Player of the Year award.

Three Panchayats of Tripura won top honours in the Deen Dayal Upadhyay and Nanaji Deshmukh Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar 2025, showcasing excellence in local governance. Indian-origin scientist Deep Jariwala has been selected for one of the most respected research roles in the United States. This important appointment highlights his global recognition in the field of advanced science and technology.

Deep Jariwala has been chosen for the UT-ORNL Governor’s Chair for Quantum Devices, a highly respected position in the U.S. He will officially begin this role in January 2027.
