In 2026 the theme is around ‘Observing Today, Protecting Tomorrow’ and which focuses on how accurate weather data helps tackle climate change and natural disasters. The day also marks the establishment of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

World Water Day is observed globally on the March 22 and the day raise awareness about water conservation and access to safe drinking water. In 2026 the focus highlights the connection between the water and gender equality. It also emphasizing how women and girls are disproportionately affected by water scarcity. The United Nations calls for inclusive solutions that empower women in water management. The 2026 theme is ‘Water and Gender’ and it is highlights the strong link between water access and gender equality.
