World Kidney Day 2026observed on March 12. This day is drawing global attention to the rising burden of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). And also the need for early detection and prevention. This international awareness day highlights how kidney diseases often remain silent in early stages and become serious later. The World Kidney Day theme 2026 “Kidney Health for All: Caring for People, Protecting the Planet”. And also focuses on the connection between kidney health and environmental factors such as pollution, heat and unsafe water.

Amol Palekar to Receive META Lifetime Achievement Award 2026 for Theatre Excellence

Veteran actor and filmmaker Amol Palekar will be honored with the META Lifetime Achievement Award 2026 at the Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards (META). This award recognizes his remarkable contribution to Indian theatre, cinema and storytelling over the several decades of his service to the field. This honor will be presented during the 21st edition of the Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards. this Awards will be held in New Delhi from March 19 to March 25, 2026.

Shailesh Kumar Wins Gold at World Para Athletics Grand Prix 2026

Indian para athlete Shailesh Kumar won a gold medal at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix in New Delhi. He was Competing in the men’s high jump T63 category. Which is the reigning world champion secured the top position with a jump of 1.84 metres. Although this mark was lower than his personal best of 1.91 metres.

Chhattisgarh to Host First Khelo India Tribal Games 2026

The first Khelo India Tribal Games 2026 will be held from 25 March to 6 April 2026 in Chhattisgarh. The Games will be organised across three cities — Raipur, Jagdalpur and Surguja. The event will feature seven medal sports — athletics, football, hockey, weightlifting, archery, swimming and wrestling, while Mallakhamb and Kabaddi will be included as demonstration sports.

Lt Gen Dheeraj Seth to Become Next Vice Chief of Army Staff from April 1

Lt Gen Dheeraj Seth will take charge as the Vice Chief of Army Staff (VCOAS) from 1 April 2026 in New Delhi, while the current VCOAS Lt Gen PP Singh will become the Western Army Commander on the same day. Lt Gen VMB Krishnan will assume charge as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of Eastern Army Command, and Lt Gen Sandeep Jain will take over as the Southern Army Commander from 1 April 2026.

Delhi Installs India’s First Microalgae Air Tower to Fight Highway Pollution

New Delhi has deployed India’s first microalgae based PureAir Tower along the Aerocity highway corridor. It is introducing the innovative biotechnology-based solution to combat urban air pollution. This tower has been installed on a busy road median and transforming conventional road infrastructure into an active air purification system. This pilot project aims to address vehicular emissions on one of the capital’s high traffic corridors.
