World Wildlife Day 2026
The world will celebrate the World Wildlife Day 2026 on 3rd of March. The United Nations observance dedicated to protecting wild animals, plants and biodiversity. This year’s theme of this day is “Medicinal and Aromatic Plants: Conserving Health, Heritage and Livelihoods”. This Also highlights the critical role plant species play in healthcare systems, cultural traditions and sustainable economies. This day serves as a global reminder of the urgent need to safeguard ecosystems and combat wildlife crime amid rising threats such as habitat destruction and climate change.
3 March – World Hearing Day
World Hearing Day is observed every year on 3 March to raise awareness about hearing loss and promote ear and hearing care globally. Theme 2026 – From communities to classrooms: hearing care for all children. The day is organised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to encourage early detection and prevention of hearing impairment.

B.P. Singh Assumes Charge as DG Naval Armament at Naval Headquarters
Shri B.P. Singh has officially taken charge as the new Director General of Naval Armament (DGONA) at Naval Headquarters in New Delhi. This Appointment come from March 1 2026. He is a senior officer of the 1994 batch of the Indian Naval Armament Service. He succeeds Shri Divakar Jayant who retired on February 28 2026. With more than three decades of experience in naval armament management, procurement and logistics. His appointment marks an important leadership transition in the Indian Navy’s armament organization.
Meet Saba Shawl: The First Kashmiri Woman to Head Central Jail Srinagar
Saba Shawl has been appointed as the first Kashmiri woman to head Central Jail Srinagar, Which is a high security correctional facility in Jammu and Kashmir. Her appointment comes under Government Order of Home of 2026 dated March 2, 2026, issued by the Home Department. With this move, the J&K Prisons Department has not only implemented a major administrative reshuffle. Also marked a breakthrough moment for women in uniformed services in the region.

Kolli Hills Gets Tamil Nadu’s First Dark Sky Park
Tamil Nadu Forest Department has established the state’s first Dark Sky Park at Ariyur Shola Forest in Kolli Hills which is in Namakkal district. The project is designed to protect natural night skies from artificial light pollution while creating a dedicated space for public astronomical observation. This reserve Developed at a cost of ₹1 crore. And this initiative promotes sustainable tourism, scientific awareness and environmental conservation in one of Tamil Nadu’s most scenic hill regions.
Denmark Becomes First EU Country to Eliminate Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV and Syphilis
Denmark became the first European Union country to eliminate mother-to-child transmission (EMTCT) of HIV and syphilis, as certified by the World Health Organisation (WHO). The validation by WHO’s Regional and Global committees confirmed Denmark met all targets from 2021–2024, including low transmission rates and high prenatal testing and treatment coverage.
