Sadhguru Introduces Bhavya Bharat Bhushan Honour During Mahashivaratri Event

At the Mahashivaratri celebrations, spiritual leader Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev unveiled the new national honour called the Bhavya Bharat Bhushan Award to recognise individuals with outstanding contributions across fields such as national security, arts, literature, science, sports, and social welfare. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh felicitated awardees for their exemplary service to society and nation building. The initiative aims to celebrate excellence, inspire public spirit, and highlight diverse achievements that strengthen India’s cultural, intellectual, and developmental fabric during the festival gathering. 

Smriti Mandhana Named BBC Indian Sportswoman Of The Year 2025

Cricket star Smriti Mandhana was named the BBC Indian Sportswoman of the Year for 2025 in recognition of her outstanding performances, including a key role in India’s triumph at the 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup and leading her franchise to a second Women’s Premier League title. The award was decided by a distinguished jury and presented at a ceremony where Mandhana’s mother accepted on her behalf as she continues touring with the national team in Australia.

Jaisalmer to Host First Jain Chadar Mahotsav

Rajasthan’s desert city of Jaisalmer will host the country’s first Jain Chadar Mahotsav from 6 to 8 March 2026. The three-day religious event will centre on the worship of the 872-year-old garments of Dada Shri Jindatt Suri Maharaj, preserved in the Gyan Bhandar library of the Jain temple in Jaisalmer. Organisers expect participation from senior political leaders, Jain saints and over 30,000 devotees from across India.

India’s Tejaswin Shankar Strikes Gold in Men’s Heptathlon

India’s Tejaswin Shankar clinched a historic gold medal at the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships 2026 in Tianjin, China. The Indian athlete won the men’s heptathlon event with a record-breaking performance of 5,993 points. This marked India’s only gold medal at the championship. With this achievement, Tejaswin Shankar also set a new national indoor record, surpassing his earlier best. India finished the tournament with five medals and secured sixth place in the overall standings.

GAIL (India) Limited Appoints Deepak Gupta as New CMD

GAIL (India) Limited appointed Deepak Gupta as its new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD); he will assume charge on or after 1 March 2026 and serve till 28 February 2029. He will succeed Sandeep Kumar Gupta, who is set to retire on 28 February 2026. The appointment was approved by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.

India to Establish First National Cow Culture Museum in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh

India will set up its first National Cow Culture Museum in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, within the campus of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Veterinary Science University. The museum aims to present a balanced narrative by highlighting the cultural, agricultural, and economic importance of cattle, going beyond purely religious symbolism and integrating scientific awareness.
