International Cheetah Day 2025: India’s Cheetah Comeback Sparks Global Hope for Conservation

Every year, December 4 is observed as International Cheetah Day, a date chosen to raise awareness about the fastest land animal and to highlight ongoing efforts to prevent its extinction. Initiated in 2010 by American zoologist Dr Laurie Marker, who founded the Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF), this day honors not only the species but also the people and projects dedicated to saving it. The cheetah is one of the oldest big cat species, with evolutionary roots dating back over five million years to the Miocene era. Famous for their incredible speed, cheetahs can accelerate from 0 to 112 km/h in just three seconds.

Australia’s Victoria University to Open First India Campus in Gurugram by 2026

In a significant development for higher education in India, Victoria University (VU) from Australia is establishing its first international campus in Gurugram, located in the Delhi NCR region. This move makes VU one of the first foreign universities to be licensed by the Indian government under the National Education Policy (NEP) reforms, which now allow top global institutions to set up campuses in India. This campus is expected to become operational by mid-2026, bringing VU’s globally recognised curriculum — especially its signature Block Model of teaching — closer to Indian students.
