Educate Girls Wins 2025 Ramon Magsaysay Award

On August 31, 2025, Educate Girls, officially known as the Foundation to Educate Girls Globally, achieved a historic feat by becoming the first Indian organisation to win the Ramon Magsaysay Award, one of Asia’s most prestigious honours. The award recognises the NGO’s relentless efforts in transforming the educational landscape for out-of-school girls in India’s remotest regions. This year’s other awardees include Shaahina Ali from the Maldives for her work in environmental conservation and Flaviano Antonio L Villanueva of the Philippines for supporting marginalised communities.

India Opens First Mobile Tempered Glass Factory

India has taken a major stride toward electronics self-sufficiency with the inauguration of its first-ever Tempered Glass Manufacturing Facility for mobile devices. The factory, located in Noida, was officially opened on August 30, 2025, by Union Minister of Electronics and IT Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw. Established by Optiemus Electronics in partnership with Corning Incorporated, USA, the facility will manufacture tempered glass under the premium brand “Engineered by Corning”. These products will serve both Indian and global markets, marking a pivotal expansion of India’s domestic electronics production capabilities.

India Launches First Multi-Lane Free Flow Tolling

India has taken a major leap toward transforming its road infrastructure by launching its first Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) tolling system. This innovative system, which eliminates toll barriers and allows seamless travel, will be first implemented at the Choryasi Fee Plaza on NH-48 in Gujarat. The initiative is a result of an agreement between Indian Highways Management Company Limited (IHMCL)—promoted by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI)—and ICICI Bank. The contract was signed at NHAI headquarters in New Delhi on August 30, 2025, in the presence of NHAI Chairman Shri Santosh Kumar Yadav and senior officials.

Singapore Named Asia’s Safest Country in 2025 GPI

In the latest Global Peace Index (GPI) 2025, Singapore has been ranked the safest country in Asia, securing the 6th position globally. Released by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), the 19th edition of the index assessed 163 countries on parameters such as safety, conflict, and militarisation. Despite slipping one spot from 2024, Singapore’s overall peace score improved, reflecting its continued commitment to maintaining social stability and public safety.

India Set to Become Third Largest Economy In World

In a strong endorsement of India’s economic trajectory, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Sanjay Malhotra announced that India is on track to soon become the world’s third-largest economy.
