World Day of the Sick is observed annually on 11 February, aimed at raising awareness about the needs of the sick and the importance of quality healthcare and compassionate care. Theme 2026 – The Compassion of the Samaritan: Loving by Bearing the Pain of Others. The day was instituted by Pope John Paul II in 1992, and it coincides with the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, a site associated with healing.

IAF–RTAF Joint Air Exercise Near Malacca Strait Amid Saab’s MRFA Pitch

The Indian Air Force (IAF) conducted its first international air exercise of 2026 with the Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF), marking a significant step in Indo-Thai defence cooperation. The joint in-situ (on-site) drills featured IAF’s Su-30MKI fighters alongside RTAF’s JAS 39 Gripen aircraft. The exercise took place near the strategically vital Strait of Malacca, one of the world’s busiest maritime trade routes. The strait carries nearly one-quarter of global seaborne trade and a major share of oil and LNG shipments, making it critical for global energy security and Indo-Pacific stability.

Mumbai has introduced India’s first-ever melody road, a special stretch that plays the famous song “Jai Ho” as vehicles pass over it at a fixed speed. The project was inaugurated by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on the city’s Coastal Road. The musical stretch is located on the northbound carriageway between Nariman Point and Worli, just after vehicles exit the Coastal Road tunnel.
