Kokborok Day 2026: Tripuri Language Day

Kokborok Day, also called Tripuri Language Day, is observed every year on January 19 in Tripura. This year marks the 48th anniversary of Kokborok’s recognition as an official language of Tripura. The day celebrates the rich linguistic and cultural heritage of the Kokborok language, spoken by the Tripuri community. It marks the historic recognition of Kokborok as an official language of Tripura and highlights ongoing efforts to preserve and promote indigenous languages.

Spituk Gustor Festival Marks Spiritual New Beginning in Ladakh

The annual Spituk Gustor Festival has begun in Ladakh, bringing vibrant colours, sacred rituals, and spiritual energy to the region. Held at the historic Spituk Monastery, the festival follows a week-long period of prayers for world peace and prosperity. It also symbolically marks the end of the first and coldest phase of Ladakh’s harsh winter. The two day Spituk Gustor Festival has commenced at Spituk Monastery in Ladakh. It is the first monastic festival of the year in the region and marks the seasonal transition.

India- Japan Coast Guards Hold Joint HNS Response Drill in Mumbai

The Indian Coast Guard and the Japan Coast Guard carried out a joint Hazardous and Noxious Substances (HNS) response drill in Mumbai. The exercise was held onboard the pollution response vessel ICGS Samudra Prahari and aimed at enhancing operational coordination, disaster preparedness, and maritime safety cooperation between the two Indo-Pacific partners. Indian Coast Guard and Japan Coast Guard conducted a joint HNS response drill in Mumbai. The exercise focused on improving preparedness against chemical spills at sea.

The board of ICICI Bank has approved the reappointment of its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Sandeep Bakhshi, for another term.
