World Day for International Justice is observed annually on 17 July to promote international criminal justice and strengthen efforts to end impunity for the most serious crimes. It marks the anniversary of the adoption of the Rome Statute, which led to the formation of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in 1998.The Rome Statute was adopted on 17 July 1998 by 120 countries in Rome, creating the ICC. The ICC became operational on 1 July 2002.
